Akiba's Trip is a Japanese video game franchise by developer Acquire. The franchise consists of five games and an anime television series adaptation by Gonzo that aired between January 4, 2017 and March 29, 2017.

Akiba's Trip

The original Akiba's Trip game was released on PlayStation Portable in Japan by Acquire on May 19, 2011. [1] [2] An updated version, titled Akiba's Trip Plus, was released for PSP on June 14, 2012. [2] [3] A PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows remake was released on July 20, 2021 in the U.S. and Europe, titled Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed. [4]

Akiba's Trip for GREE

The second release in the franchise, Akiba's Trip for GREE was a Japan-only free-to-play smartphone game using the GREE platform. It focused on acquiring maid cafés through a touchscreen quick time event version of the original's combat engine. [5] The game launched on January 20, 2012 for Android and on June 29, 2012 for iOS. [6] [7] Service was discontinued and the game was made unavailable on November 26, 2012. [8]

Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed

Acquire released Akiba's Trip 2 on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in Japan on November 7, 2013, [2] [9] [10] and on PlayStation 4 on July 3, 2014. [11] XSEED Games released the game in North America under the title Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed. [2] They released the game on PS3 and PSVita on August 12, 2014, [12] on PS4 on November 25, 2014, [13] and on PC on May 26, 2015. [14] Additionally, NIS America released the game in Europe. [2]

Akiba's Trip Festa! was released for PC and Android in November 30, 2016. [2]

Akiba's Beat

Akiba's Beat, the first action RPG game in the franchise, was originally scheduled for a fall 2016 release on PS4 and PS Vita, but was later delayed to December 15, 2016 on PS4 and March 16, 2017 on PS Vita. [15] [16] [17] [18] [19] The game is directed by Kōta Takano, while ClariS is performing the theme song, "again". [17] XSEED Games released the game in North America on May 16, 2017. [17] [20] It was also released in Europe by PQube on May 19, 2017.

The company was formerly managed by Compile's former executive Masamitsu "Moo" Niitani, most well known as the creator of the Madou Monogatari and Puyo Puyo series, before his retirement in December 2012. Compile Heart is primarily known for its Hyperdimension Neptunia and Record of Agarest War brands.

Hyperdimension Neptunia is a series of role-playing video games created and developed by Compile Heart and Idea Factory. The series debuted in Japan on August 19, 2010, with the video game of the same name for the PlayStation 3, which received two sequels, Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 and Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory. All three games were remade for PlayStation Vita and Windows. Another sequel, titled Megadimension Neptunia VII, as well as multiple spin-off and crossover games were released for various platforms since then. The year 2014 saw a number of events in the video game industry. No new major consoles were released, but updates and upgrades were: the New Nintendo 3DS was released in Japan and Oceania, and Sony released new model 2000 PS Vita systems in Europe & North America. In video game-related corporate acquisitions, Amazon purchased the online video game streaming service Twitch, and Facebook acquired the virtual reality company and product Oculus. It is the third entry in the Akiba series, after the Japan-only Akiba's Trip for PlayStation Portable and the worldwide release Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed, though it is the first entry that plays as a JRPG. The game was released on December 15, 2016 in Japan, and on May 16, 2017 in North America and May 19 in Europe, published by Marvelous USA and PQube.

<i>Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star</i> Video game in Fate franchise

Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star is an action video game developed and published by Marvelous. The game is the third installment in the universe that began with Fate/Extra and the second one to be released outside of Japan. It was first announced in March 2016 and released in Japan in November 2016 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita consoles; its release in North America and Europe occurred in January 2017. Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows versions were released in July 2017 for all three regions. The game's plot involved the conflict between two factions led by Nero and Tamamo from Fate/Extra fighting each other over control of the Moon Cell and the Holy Grail. They are soon joined by a third faction led by Altera who has the intent of destroying civilization as well as Saber from Fate/stay night who wishes to stop the conflict between the three factions. A direct sequel titled Fate/Extella Link was released for PS4 in Japan in 2018, and later worldwide for PS4, Switch and PC in 2019.
