Akin Fadeyi Foundation (AFF) is a Nigerian not-for-profit established in 2016 [1] and focuses on using technology, media and communication tools to tackle corruption. [2] It promotes civic engagement, transparency and accountability in Nigeria through its FlagIt corruption-reporting app, campaigns, and media awareness program. It is the convener of a nationwide anti-corruption crusade, [3] Corruption Not-In-My-Country [4] [5] which has been endorsed by European Union, [6] United Nations, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria

History

Akin Fadeyi Foundation started as a campaign against corruption, for social justice and inclusiveness. The founder, [7] Akin Fadeyi saw the need to sustain the campaign and use communication for change approach to address insistent corruption practices in Nigeria; and then founded the organization in 2016. AFF has worked to promote good governance, social justice, and women’s right in Nigeria. In 2017, [8] it started Corruption Not In My Country, a Pan-Nigerian campaign against retail corruption in Nigeria which was used to mobilize young people as anti-corruption ambassadors.

Anti-Corruption Reporting

To promote civic engagement and increase reportage of corrupt practices in Nigeria, Akin Fadeyi Foundation and Federal Road Safety Corps [16] launched a mobile and web-based application known as FlagIt App. [17] [18] This has been used by citizens across the states in Nigeria to monitor and report suspected corrupt practices.

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is a Nigerian politician, he served as the Federal Minister of Transportation of Nigeria from 2015 to 2022 under the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari. He resigned to contest for Nigeria's presidency under the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC). He previously served in oil-rich Rivers State as Governor of Rivers State from 2007 to 2015 and Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2007. On 9 April 2022, Amaechi declared his interest to contest in the Presidential election in 2023, he came second in the APC presidential primaries held in June 2022 behind Bola Tinubu with 316 votes from the delegates.

Sustainable Development Goal 16 is about "peace, justice and strong institutions." One of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations in 2015, the official wording is: "Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels". The 2022 Ekiti State gubernatorial election took place on 18 June 2022, to elect the Governor of Ekiti State. Incumbent APC Governor Kayode Fayemi was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term. Former Secretary to the State Government Abiodun Oyebanji held the office for the APC by a 30% margin over first runner-up and SDP nominee—former Governor Olusegun Oni.
