Alan M. Casavant (born July 26,1952) is an American politician from Maine. Casavant,a Democrat,represented District 137 in the Maine House of Representatives from 2006 to 2014. District 137 comprised portions of Biddeford and Kennebunk. Casavant was unable to seek re-election in 2014 due to term-limits. Casavant is also the elected Mayor of Biddeford,holding that position since November 2011 when he defeated incumbent Mayor Joanne Twomey. [1] His support grew in the 2017 election. [2] He served as a Biddeford City Council member from 1976 to 1992. [3] He retired as a teacher at Biddeford High School in 2012. [4]
Casavant earned a B.S. (Bachelors's Degree of Science) in psychology from the University of Maine in 1974. In 2004,he earned a M.A. in American and New England Studies from the University of Southern Maine. [3]
Michael Herman Michaud is an American businessman and politician from Maine. Michaud served as the U.S. representative for Maine's 2nd congressional district from 2003 to 2015. He is a member of the Democratic Party. The primarily rural district comprises nearly 80% of the state by area and includes the cities of Lewiston,Auburn,Bangor,Presque Isle,and Ellsworth. It is the largest Congressional district by area east of the Mississippi River.

She served on the agriculture,conservation and forestry;natural resources;engrossed bills committees,including a stint as chair of the engrossed bills. Twomey was elected Mayor of Biddeford in 2006 and was re-elected in 2008 and 2010. In November 2011,Twomey was defeated for re-election by State Representative Alan Casavant.

Among her political positions,She was known as a proponent of mandating helmets for motorcyclists. She unsuccessfully entered a bill to do so in 2009 and has entered another such bill in 2013.
John M. Nutting VII is an American politician and retired dairy farmer from Maine. As the Maine Legislature declined to act on the proposed statute,it was automatically placed on the ballot. The proposal was defeated by 320,873 "No" votes to 279,617 "Yes".
