Biddeford is a city in York County, Maine, United States. It is the principal commercial center of York County. Its population was 22,552 at the 2020 census. The twin cities of Saco and Biddeford include the resort communities of Biddeford Pool and Fortunes Rocks. The town is the site of the University of New England and the annual La Kermesse Franco-Americaine Festival. First visited by Europeans in 1616, it is the site of one of the earliest European settlements in the United States. It is home to Saint Joseph's Church, the tallest building in Maine.

Alan M. Casavant is an American politician from Maine. Casavant, a Democrat, represented District 137 in the Maine House of Representatives from 2006 to 2014. District 137 comprised portions of Biddeford and Kennebunk. Casavant was unable to seek re-election in 2014 due to term-limits. Casavant is also the elected Mayor of Biddeford, holding that position since November 2011 when he defeated incumbent Mayor Joanne Twomey. His support grew in the 2017 election. He served as a Biddeford City Council member from 1976 to 1992. He retired as a teacher at Biddeford High School in 2012.
Paulette G. Beaudoin was an American politician from Maine. A Democrat, Beaudoin was first elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2006. She represented District 135, which includes a portion of Biddeford. She was re-elected in 2008, 2010 and 2012 and was unable to seek re-election in 2014 due to term limits. Among her political positions, She was known as a proponent of mandating helmets for motorcyclists. She unsuccessfully entered a bill to do so in 2009 and has entered another such bill in 2013.

As the Maine Legislature declined to act on the proposed statute, it was automatically placed on the ballot. The proposal was defeated by 320,873 "No" votes to 279,617 "Yes".
Ryan Michael Fecteau is an American politician who served as the Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives. A Democrat, Fecteau serves Maine House District 11, consisting of a portion of Biddeford. At the time of his election as Speaker of the House in December 2020, Fecteau was both the youngest active state Speaker in the United States and the first openly gay person to serve as Speaker of the Maine House.

Primary elections were held on June 11, 2024.
