Alan Russell Hounsell (born 8 February 1947) is a New Zealand former cricketer. He played first-class and List A cricket for Auckland,Canterbury,Northern Districts and Wellington between 1968 and 1977. [1] [2]
An opening bowler,Hounsell played several years of representative under-age cricket before progressing to Canterbury's senior team. For Canterbury Under-23s against Northern Districts Under-23s in February 1969,he took 7 for 19 off 12 overs. [3] His most successful first-class season was 1971-72,when he took 18 wickets at an average of 20.88, [4] and took his best figures of 5 for 50 for Canterbury against Wellington. [5]
Hounsell went into the insurance industry,where his success in sales and marketing,on top of his experience in cricket as a player,coach and selector,led Table Tennis New Zealand to select him in 1996 as the first chairman of its board. [6]
Bruce Alexander Grenfell Murray was a Test cricketer for New Zealand who played 13 Tests as a right-handed opening batsman between 1968 and 1971. He was a school principal in the Wellington area from 1981 to 2002,and the author of several geography textbooks. After retiring from teaching,he was a cricket administrator in Wellington and a historian.
Robert Smith Cunis played 20 Test matches for New Zealand as a pace bowler between 1964 and 1972,and was later coach of the New Zealand national team from 1987 to 1990. His son Stephen played cricket for Canterbury between 1998 and 2006.
Ross Winston Morgan is a former New Zealand cricketer who played 20 Tests for New Zealand between 1965 and 1972 as a middle-order batsman and off-spinner.
Brian Frederick Hastings is a former New Zealand cricketer. A middle-order batsman,he played 31 Test matches between 1969 and 1976,scoring four centuries. He played first-class cricket for Wellington,Central Districts and Canterbury between 1958 and 1977.

He scored three half-centuries during his career,as well as taking five wickets at a respectable 12.60.
Raymond William Hutchison is a former New Zealand cricketer and umpire. Hutchison was a left-handed batsman who bowled slow left-arm orthodox. He was born in Dunedin,Otago and worked professionally as a dentist.
James Denis Riley is a former New Zealand cricketer who made 40 first-class appearances for Auckland,Wellington and Canterbury between 1968 and 1977.
The 2016–17 Plunket Shield was the 88th season of official first-class cricket in New Zealand. The competition started on 22 October 2016,and ran to 1 April 2017. The round seven fixtures that started in early March 2017,were played as day/night matches. These were in preparation for a possible day/night Test match between New Zealand and England,scheduled to take place in March 2018. Despite some concerns about the visibility of the pink ball while catching,the matches received positive feedback.
