Air Vice-Marshal George Alan White, CB , AFC (born 11 March 1932) is a former Royal Air Force officer who served as Commandant of the RAF Staff College, Bracknell.

RAF career

Educated at Wallace High School in Lisburn, Queen's University Belfast and the University of London, White joined the Royal Air Force in 1956. [1] After seeing action at Chiang Mai during the Laotian Civil War in the early 1960s [2] and then serving with Middle East Command in the late 1960s, he then became Officer Commanding No. 5 Squadron in 1970, followed by appointments as Station Commander at RAF Leuchars in 1973, Director of Operations (Air Defence and Overseas) in 1977 and Senior Air Staff Officer at Headquarters No. 11 Group in 1979. [1] He went on to be Air Commodore Plans at Strike Command in 1981, Deputy Commander Royal Air Force Germany in 1982 and Commandant of the RAF Staff College, Bracknell in 1984 before retiring in 1987. [3]

Stuart Atha

Air Marshal Sir Stuart David Atha, is a former senior officer of the Royal Air Force. He led No. 3 (Fighter) Squadron from 2000 to 2004, which included deployment to Iraq on Operation Telic, commanded RAF Coningsby (2006–08), No. 83 Expeditionary Air Group (2009–10) and No. 1 Group (2011–14), and served as the Air Component Commander for security during the 2012 London Olympics. Atha was Deputy Commander Operations from 2016 to 2019.

RAF Staff College, Bracknell Former RAF staff college in Berkshire, England

The RAF Staff College at Bracknell was a Royal Air Force staff college active for most of the second half of the 20th century. Its role was the training of staff officers in the administrative, staff and policy aspects of air force matters. Its motto was Visu et Nisu which is Latin for by vision and effort. The equivalent in the British Army was the Staff College, Camberley and the equivalent in the Royal Navy was the Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich.
