Alasdair George Hay, CBE , QFSM (born 24 December 1961) is a British firefighter. He was the first Chief Fire Officer of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Hay was a firefighter with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service from September 1983 to October 1992. [2] He was a senior instructor at the Scottish Fire Services College from 1992 to 1994. [3] In 1994,he joined Tayside Fire and Rescue Service. [4] By 2009,he had risen to the rank of Deputy Chief Fire Officer. [5] Between May 2011 and March 2012,he was seconded to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Advisory Unit. [2] Returning to the Tayside Fire and Rescue Service,he was appointed Acting Chief Fire Officer on 1 April 2012. [6]
Hay was appointed Chief Fire Officer of the newly created Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in October 2013 to prepare for the new nationwide service. [7] He oversaw a workforce of more than 9,000 firefighters and support staff. [3] Hay retired from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service on 15 February 2019,handing over to the current Chief Fire Officer Martin Blunden.
In the 2011 Queen's Birthday Honours,Hay was awarded the Queen's Fire Service Medal (QFSM) for Distinguished Service. [8] He is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal,the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Fire Brigade Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. [2] He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2017 Birthday Honours. [9]

The Highlands &Islands Fire &Rescue Service was the statutory fire and rescue service for northern Scotland,covering the council areas of Highland,Orkney,Shetland,and the Western Isles,and so covering a major part of the Highlands and Islands area. It was the fire service covering the largest geographical area in the United Kingdom,and had its headquarters in the city of Inverness. It was established in 1975 and was amalgamated into the single Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in 2013.

Air Vice-Marshal Margaret Elaine West,is a senior Royal Air Force officer. She was the first woman to hold a non-honorary air vice-marshal or equivalent rank in the British Armed Forces since the Second World War,and the first to achieve that rank in the regular forces. In September 2021,West was appointed to the Royal Household as a Lady Usher.

Martin Blunden is a British firefighter. He was the Chief Officer of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service until he stepped down in 2022.
Alex Johnson QFSM is a British firefighter,named the "Most Influential Woman in Fire" at the Excellence in Fire and Emergency Awards in December 2019. In January 2020,she started serving as the Chief Fire Officer of South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority (SYFRA). When Johnson started out as a firefighter in Derbyshire in 1992,aged 24,only 1% of firefighters in the UK were women. She said:"I never saw another female firefighter from one month to the next,there were so few of us."
The 1982 Queen's Birthday Honours in New Zealand,celebrating the official birthday of Elizabeth II,were appointments made by the Queen in her right as Queen of New Zealand,on the advice of the New Zealand government,to various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by New Zealanders. They were announced on 12 June 1982.
