Rugby union career
Bressington was released from Gloucestershire in 2004, whereupon he decided to concentrate more on rugby union. He joined Stourbridge RFC, where his brother Nathan had played the season before on loan and had eclipsed the club's record for most tries in a season. In the 2006–07 season, Alastair surpassed his sibling's record of seventeen tries in one season with nineteen of his own.
Bressington also has the distinction of scoring the most points for Stourbridge in a single game, beating his own record of 31 with 35 against Westcombe Park on 25 October 2008. He is currently second on the club's list of all-time league points scorers, behind Ben Harvey.
Despite having played most of his rugby union career on the right-wing, Bressington is equally adept at full-back which he increasingly proved at Stourton Park over the past few seasons. With a strike-rate of 78%, he was Stourbridge's first-choice goalkicker also.
In August 2009, he signed for Stourbridge's National League 1 rivals; Cinderford.
Bressington currently teaches at The King's School, Gloucester, where he is responsible for organising hockey, cricket and rugby union.
Bressington now coaches the Painswick RFC 1st XV squad in Stroud, Gloucestershire.
David Watkins is a Welsh former dual-code rugby international, having played both rugby union and rugby league football for both codes' national teams between 1963 and 1974. He captained the British and Irish Lions rugby union side, and made six appearances for the Great Britain rugby league team. With the Wales national rugby league team he played in every match of the 1975 World Cup, and with English club Salford he played more than 400 games over 12 seasons.
Jeffrey William Wilson is a New Zealand sportsman who has represented his country in both rugby union and cricket – a so-called "Double All Black", an increasingly rare achievement in the professional era. He is also a basketballer, and won national secondary school titles in track and field. With 44 tries in 60 tests, Wilson is ranked thirteenth on the list of highest test try scorers in rugby. Wilson is married to Adine Wilson, former captain of the New Zealand netball team.
Christopher Robert Andrew is a former English rugby union player and was, until April 2016, Professional Rugby Director at the RFU.
Martin Nwokocha Offiah MBE ; born 29 December 1965) is an English former professional rugby league and rugby union footballer who played in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Offiah was inducted into the Rugby League Hall of Fame in 2013. He scored over 500 tries during his rugby league career, making him the third-highest try scorer of all time, and now features in a statue of great rugby league players outside Wembley Stadium.
Stourbridge RFC is a rugby union side based in Stourbridge, West Midlands and play in the fourth tier of the English rugby union league system; National League 2 West. They play their home games at Stourton Park, which was redeveloped in 2003 to provide a larger clubhouse and social area which can also be used for weddings and other functions. The ground is in the hamlet of Stourton set amongst the Staffordshire countryside, on the outskirts of the town of Stourbridge.
Belfast Harlequins is a multi-sports club located off the Malone Road in south Belfast, Northern Ireland. The club name provides the overall umbrella for rugby union, men's and ladies' hockey, and squash. The club is associated on and off the field with Methodist College Belfast (MCB).
Lydney Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in Lydney, Gloucestershire. The club currently play in Regional 1 South West at the fifth tier of the English rugby union system following their promotion after the 2021-22 season.
Mike Umaga is a former Samoa international rugby union and rugby league footballer.
Aled Brew is a former Wales international rugby union player who played as a winger. He made his debut for the Wales national rugby union team against Ireland in the 2007 Six Nations Championship. In his career, as well as playing for Biarritz Olympique and Bath Rugby, he is one of only a handful of players to have played for all four top-level regional teams in Wales.
Neil George Doak is a Northern Irish former cricketer and rugby union player. He currently works as a rugby union coach, and has served as attack and backs coach with English club side Worcester Warriors, and Georgia during the 2020 Autumn Nations Cup. Doak previously worked as attack and backs coach of Irish provincial side Ulster from 2008 to 2017, where he also spent his professional playing career. During his time with Ulster, he had brief stints as a coach with Ireland and Emerging Ireland.
Keith Jarrett is a Welsh former dual-code international rugby union and rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. He played representative rugby union for the British Lions and for Wales, where he set point scoring records, and Monmouthshire, and at club level for Abertillery RFC, Newport RFC and London Welsh RFC, as a centre, i.e. number 12 or 13. He also played representative rugby league for Wales, and at club level for Barrow.
Edward Keith Scott was an English sportsman who played first-class cricket and represented the England national rugby union team.
Regional 2 South West, is an English, level six, rugby union league for clubs based in the south-west of England; i.e. Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset. It is one of twelve leagues at this level in England. When league rugby started in 1986 it was known as South West 2, but in 1996 the division was split into two leagues — South West 1 West and South West 1 East. South West 1 West was renamed Regional 2 South West prior to the 2022–23 season. The champions are promoted to Regional 1 South West and the bottom two sides are relegated, depending on location, to either Counties 1 Western West, Counties 1 Western North or Counties 1 Southern South.
Nathan Stewart Bressington is a rugby union player and former English cricketer. He currently plays for Stourbridge in the National League 2 North. Bressington played as a left-handed batsman and was a right-arm medium-pace bowler.
Robert 'Bob' Ian Dawson is a former English cricketer. Dawson is a right-handed batsman who bowls both leg break and right-arm medium pace. He was born in Exmouth, Devon.
Charles Derek "CD" Williams was a Welsh sportsman who played international rugby union for Wales. He also played first-class cricket for the Oxford University Cricket Club.
Mark Woodrow is an English rugby union player-coach for Dings Crusaders currently playing in the English National League 3 South West. His position of choice is fly-half. Mark has played for eleven English national league clubs in addition to appearing for both Paternope (Naples) and later Viadana in the Italian leagues. He is a former England Counties XV international and has previously been involved with England Sevens. Renowned as a prolific and highly accurate points kicker, over his career he has made 300 appearances in English club rugby, scoring 2,613 points as of the end of the 2014-15 season.
Gary Kingdom is an English rugby union player who can play in a variety of positions most notably at Full back or Centre. He is currently playing for Taunton Titans in National League 2 South but has played higher level rugby for both Exeter Chiefs and Plymouth Albion as well as representing the Devon county rugby side with whom he has won the County Championship twice. Kingdom has become an excellent points kicker over his career and is, the second highest all-time points scorer in National League 2 South with over 1,900 points for Taunton. As well as playing, Kingdom is also employed by the RFU as a community rugby coach for the South Devon region.
Sylvan Edwards is an English rugby union player who plays at either Centre or on the Wing. He is currently in his second spell with Bristol side Dings Crusaders where he became one of the top try scorers in National League 2 South history, with 69 tries in his first nine seasons spent at the club. Sylvan has also been capped by the Gloucestershire county side.
The 2020 Bob Willis Trophy was a first-class cricket tournament held in the 2020 English cricket season, and the inaugural edition of the Bob Willis Trophy. It was separate from the County Championship, which was not held in 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The eighteen county cricket teams were split into three regional groups of six, with the two group winners with the most points advancing to a final held at Lord's. The maximum number of overs bowled in a day was reduced from 96 to 90, and the team's first innings could be no longer than 120 overs.
