Alastair MacGregor Martin is a former rugby union international who represented Chile in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was noted as one of the finest players in Chile and as such was selected to play for a World XV against Argentina in 1980. [1]
Alastair MacGregor Martin was born on 30 June 1954 [2] and attended The Mackay School in Chile. [3]
Alastair MacGregor Martin played his club rugby for his school's old boys club, the Old Mackayans Rugby Football Club, and led them to national cup wins on 1978, 1981 and 1982.
For Chile, he first faced the Pumas in 1977 and by 1979 was captain of his national side. He was also part of the 1980 South American Jaguars side that toured South Africa. Notably, in 1980 he also played for a World XV on 9 August 1980 against Argentina in Buenos Aires, losing 36-22. [4] alongside John Scott and Jean-Pierre Rives.
In 2009 he became the president of the Federación de Rugby de Chile (FERUCHI) replacing Carlos Silva Echiburu. This was in response to what was described as a messy institutional period, when the Chilean rugby chiefs looked to one of the countries former rugby greats to lead the new road. [5]

Hugo Porta is a former Argentine Rugby Union footballer, an inductee of both the International Rugby Hall of Fame and IRB Hall of Fame, and one of the best fly-halves the sport has seen. During the 1970s and 1980s, he played 58 times for Los Pumas, captaining them on 34 occasions, including leading them during the first World Cup in 1987.
Felipe Contepomi is an Argentine rugby coach who is currently the backs coach at Leinster Rugby. He was a rugby union footballer who played fly-half or centre; his last club was Club Newman, in the first division of the URBA championship. He was also a key player for Argentina, having played 15 years for the national team. His twin brother Manuel was also a Puma. In June 2015 he was appointed coach of Argentina XV. Contepomi was inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame in November 2017.
The Old Alleynian Football Club is an open rugby union club founded as a team for the old boys of Dulwich College, themselves known as Old Alleynians. Alejo Corral is a rugby union player from Argentina who represents Uruguay at international level. He is the younger brother of Matías Corral, former player of the first XV of San Isidro Club between 1988 and 1995, and Puma from 1992 until his retirement after the 1995 Rugby World Cup and Estanislao Corral, also former player of San Isidro Club, and member of the squad that drew against Australia in 1987. The three brothers are left props.

The South American team won five of the matches but lost both that were against the South Africa national rugby union team.

In July 2022 the Scotland rugby union team toured Argentina. It was the first time since 2010 that Scotland returned to tour Argentina, and the first time since 2018 the two teams had met. Before the series had begun both teams were equal on a head-to-head record of 9–9. However Scotland had a current five game win-streak over Argentina, the most Scotland had accrued over them in their eighteen meetings. Moreover, Argentina had not beaten Scotland since their meeting in the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
