Alessandro Rinaldi (born 23 November 1974) is a retired Italian footballer who played as a defender.
Rinaldi began his career at U.S. Consalvo,[ citation needed ] a small team from the Quadraro district in Rome, before moving first to Lodigiani[ citation needed ] and then to S.S. Lazio.[ citation needed ] He never played for Lazio in the Serie A. In 1993, he was transferred to the Serie C1 team in Nola where he caught the attention of scouts for Hellas Verona F.C., for whom he played in the 1994–95 season in the Italian Serie B. He then moved to Ravenna Calcio, where he became a first-choice player and with whom he played for three seasons, and then to Bologna F.C. 1909 in 1998. In 1999, he moved to A.S. Roma, where he won the league championship in 2001.
He went to Roma along with Francesco Antonioli and Amedeo Mangone, which priced Rinaldi for 6 (short) billion Italian lire, Antonioli 10 billion lire and Mangone 13 billion lire respectively. [1] This was originally intended to be a swap deal for Antonio Chimenti and Ivan Tomić, [2] however this failed. Instead, Pierre Womé joined Bologna.
In the 2001–02 season he was sold to Atalanta B.C. for 6 billion Italian lire, [3] and concurrently as part of this deal Ivan Pelizzoli joined Roma for 33 billion lire.
As part of Paolo Foglio's deal, he moved to Chievo in January 2002. [4]
Rinaldi played for Italy at the 1991 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Italy. [5]

The 2001–02 season was the 102nd season in Società Sportiva Lazio's history and their 14th consecutive season in the top-flight of Italian football.
The 2002–03 season was the 103rd season in Società Sportiva Lazio's history and their 15th consecutive season in the top-flight of Italian football. Under new manager Roberto Mancini, Lazio finished 4th in Serie A and reached the semi-finals of both the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Cup.
The 2001–02 season was Juventus Football Club's 104th in existence and 100th consecutive season in the top flight of Italian football. Juventus ended a three-year drought of league titles, following a remarkable turnaround in fortunes during the final days of the season, when Inter suffered from a collapse of nerves in the closing stages. On the final day of the league season, Juventus won 2–0 away from home against Udinese, while Inter fell at Lazio 4–2, despite leading twice. That handed Juventus its 26th Serie A title, and made up for the disappointing exit from the second group stage in the UEFA Champions League. Juventus also reached the 2002 Coppa Italia final, but were defeated by Parma on away goals following a 2–2 draw on aggregate.
During the 2001–02 season Chievo Verona competed in Serie A and Coppa Italia.
Parma Associazione Calcio had a moderately strong season in 2000–01, managing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, but also losing the final of Coppa Italia and dropping out of the UEFA Cup too early for the board's liking, ultimately leading to coach Alberto Malesani being let go during the season.
2002–03, Associazione Calcio Milan enjoyed a triumphant season, winning both the UEFA Champions League and the Coppa Italia. In their 6th conquest of Europe's most prestigious competition, Milan defeated fierce rivals Juventus on penalties after a 0–0 draw in an all-Italian final, while in the Coppa Italia they overcame Roma. In the Serie A, Milan were top of the table in January, but would eventually finish 3rd behind Juventus and Inter, thus missing the chance to complete the treble.
During the 2001–02 season,Fiorentina competed in the Serie A, Coppa Italia and UEFA Cup.
Associazione Sportiva Roma crashed down to earth following its previous two remarkable seasons, where it had won Serie A in 2000–01 and finished a close second in 2001–02. Despite the acquisition of Pep Guardiola as central midfielder, he did not apparently fit into Fabio Capello's first-team plans. The squad was essentially the same as the year before, and Guardiola's absence from the starting XI spoke volumes about the reputation of the Roma players at the time. However, things began to go against Roma following its tense competition in Serie A with Juventus. Suspecting things were amiss, both chairman Franco Sensi and manager Capello publicly condemned the judgements.
Piacenza Calcio had the highest-scoring season in the club's history, but in spite of this, a defeat to Verona in the final round would have rendered relegation. Two goals from Dario Hübner helped sealing a 3–0 victory, which propelled Hübner to become top scorer of the entire Serie A, tying for 24 goals with David Trezeguet. The ex-Brescia hitman Hübner came following the promotion, and aged 34, he reached the very top of his level.
Piacenza Calcio were relegated in the second season in the top echelon of Italian football. Coach Andrea Agostinelli was soon sacked, but Luigi Cagni could not save Piacenza from going down.
The 2004– 2010 Italian football scandal, also known as Caso Plusvalenze, was a scandal over alleged false accounting at Italian football clubs. The investigation started in 2004 and concluded in 2010.
During the 2001–02 Italian football season, Brescia Calcio competed in the Serie A.
