Alexander Akwasi Acquah [1] (born Sunday 8 December 1974) is a Ghanaian politician who is a member of the New Patriotic Party and a member of parliament for the Akim Oda constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana. [2] He hails from Akim Oda and a christian by religion.
Akwasi was born on 8 December 1974 [3] and hails from Akim Oda. He acquired his O'level in the year 1991 and GCE A' level in 1993. [4] He holds Masters Degree in Peace and Security in 2020. [5] [6] He also had his Diploma in Political Reporting in 2000. [2]
Akwasi was the Chief Executive Officer of the Community Hospitals Group. [2] [7] He is an entrepreneur and a business analyst. [8] He worked with the National Health Insurance Scheme as it public relation Officer. [9]
Akwasi is a member of the New Patriotic Party. [7] [10] He is currently the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda Constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana. [11]
In the 2020 Ghanaian general elections,he won the parliament seat with 25,380 votes making 79.45% of the total votes cast whilst the NDC parliamentary candidate Jones Asante had 6,262 votes making 19.60% of the total votes cast and the GUM parliamentary candidate Madam Lucy Ansah had 301 making 0.94% of the total votes cast. Akwasi is the Vice Chairperson of the Trade,Industry and Tourism Committee; [14] a member of the Government Assurance Committee and also a member of Health Committee. [2]
In April 2022,he gave pieces of GTP wax prints to about 180 elderly men and women in his constituency during the Easter celebrations. [15]
In October 2022,he presented medical equipment to four health facilities in the Akim Oda Constituency. [16] [17]
In November 2022,he presented 100,000 cedis to aid in the renovation of the Akyem Oda Municipal park. [18] He also donated mathematical sets to JHS students in his constituency. [19] [20]
In January 2023,he honored 31 workers and 17 'professionals' in the Akim Oda Constituency. [21]
Akwasi is a Christian. [5] [22] He is married to Henrietta Acquah and their marriage has produced four sons,Kevin Acquah,Alvin Acquah,Marvin Acquah and Shiloh Acquah
Akim Oda,a town in Ghana's Eastern Region,serving as the administrative and traditional center of the Birim Central Municipal District and Akyem Kotoku,respectively. The town has 60,604 residents as of 2013.

With a majority of 25,380 votes out of the 31,943 total votes cast,he defeated his opponents and won the seat as the 5th MP for the Constituency. He succeeded William Quaitoo who represented the constituency for eight (8) years from 2012 to 2020 on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Before him was Yaw Owusu-Boateng as the member of parliament for the constituency for four (4) years (2008-2012) until a new constituency was created out of the Akim Oda constituency in 2012 which had him representing the newly created Constituency,Asene Akoroso Manso on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that year.
