Alexander Evans OBE is an academic who has served as a British diplomat. He is a Professor in Practice at the London School of Economics. [1] He also holds a visiting appointment at the University of Southern California. [2]
He has a B.Sc. in International Relations from the London School of Economics, was a World Fellow at Yale University [3] and has a Ph.D. in Politics from the University of London. [4]
A career diplomat, he is a former adviser in 10 Downing Street (2020-2021). He was previously Director Cyber in the Foreign Office (2018-2020), Britain's Deputy High Commissioner to India (2015-2018), and acting British High Commissioner to India from November 2015 to March 2016. [5] He has served with the British High Commission in Pakistan twice, latterly as acting deputy and acting High Commissioner to Pakistan in the early summer of 2021. He has also led the UN Security Council expert group on Al Qaida, Daesh and the Taliban [4] and worked for the first Obama Administration as a senior adviser in the U.S. Department of State. [6] He was Strategy Director to three successive Cabinet Ministers, Michael Gove, Steve Barclay and Kit Malthouse at the British Cabinet Office (2021-2022). [7] He is a former member of the Foreign Office Policy Planning Staff.
He is a former Senior Fellow [8] at Yale University, Gwilym Gibbon Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford and Henry Kissinger Chair in Foreign Policy [9] at the Library of Congress. He was a Bernard Schwartz Fellow at the Asia Society in New York. [10] He is a former editorial board member of Asian Affairs and is a former Council Member of the Royal Society for Asian Affairs.
He serves as a Trustee and non-executive director of the Internet Watch Foundation, is a member of the Wilton Park Advisory Council, [11] a Trustee of the International Longevity Centre [12] and serves on the advisory council of the British Library. [13] He is an advisory board member of the Traverse City International Affairs Forum in Michigan, USA [14] and sits on the advisory board of the Ratiu Forum, Romania. [15] In November 2023 he was appointed a Senior Research Fellow at the British Centre for Army Leadership. [16]
He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society [17] and has contributed to books and journals, including in Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, the Washington Quarterly, Asian Affairs, Contemporary South Asia, International Affairs, Current History, The World Today and Small Wars and Insurgencies. [18] He is the author of a history of disinterest, a study of informal networks and policymaking, and a range of work on South Asia.

He is the Elihu Professor of History and Global Affairs at Yale University, where he teaches in the Yale History Department and in the Jackson School of Global Affairs. Previously, Westad held the S.T. Lee Chair of US-Asia Relations at Harvard University, teaching in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. He has also taught at the London School of Economics, where he served as director of LSE IDEAS. In the spring semester 2019 Westad was Boeing Company Chair in International Relations at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University.
C. Fred Bergsten is an American economist, author, think tank entrepreneur, and policy adviser. Pavan was also the Study Leader for the ground breaking TEEB study commissioned by G8+5 and hosted by UNEP. Professor Alexander Mirtchev, LL.M., Ph.D. is an American academic, executive, author and philanthropist, working in the areas of geopolitics, geoeconomics, global economic security, and political risk analysis and mitigation. He is a vice chair of the Atlantic Council of the United States, where he is also a member of the executive and strategy committees and the advisory council of the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. Dr. Mirtchev is a distinguished visiting professor at George Mason University's Schar School of Government and Policy. Dr. Mirtchev is a founding council member of the Kissinger Institute on China and the United States at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, where he served as a senior fellow and member of the Wilson National Cabinet. Emma Sky, OBE is a British expert on conflict, reconciliation and stability, who has worked mainly in the Middle East. She served in Iraq as the political advisor to US General Ray Odierno and General David Petraeus during the surge. She is director of the International Leadership Center at Yale University, overseeing the Yale World Fellows Program and other initiatives. She is a Senior Fellow at Yale's Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, where she lectures on Middle East politics and global affairs.
