The International Paralympic Committee is an international non-profit organisation and the global governing body for the Paralympic Movement. The IPC organizes the Paralympic Games and functions as the international federation for nine sports. Founded on 22 September 1989 in Düsseldorf, West Germany, its mission is to "enable Paralympic athletes to achieve sporting excellence and inspire and excite the world". Furthermore, the IPC wants to promote the Paralympic values and to create sport opportunities for all persons with a disability, from beginner to elite level.

Gregory Thomas Yelavich is a competitive pistol shooter from Auckland, New Zealand. Alexandra Lindsay "Alex" Croak is an Australian diver and gymnast who is a dual Olympic representative. She represented Australia as a gymnast at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and after a strong performance at the 2008 Australian national Diving Championships, she was selected for Australia's diving team for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She is the first Australian athlete to win gold medals at the Commonwealth games in two different disciplines. She was also an Australian Institute of Sport gymnastics and diving scholarship holder.
Nadine Marie Stanton is a shooting competitor for New Zealand. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games she won a gold team medal in the Double Trap (Pairs) event partnering Teresa Borrell, and a silver team medal in the Double Trap.
Alexandra Tsiavou is a Greek rower. She won the bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and she took the 6th place at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Oleh Petrovych Omelchuk is a Ukrainian sport shooter who competes in the men's 10 metre air pistol and the men's 50 metre pistol. He is the 2014 European 10 m pistol champion.
Tanyaporn Prucksakorn is a Thai sport shooter who has competed at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. At all three Olympics, she competed in the 10 m air pistol and 25 m pistol events. She has been a competitive shooter since 2003, winning two World Cup silver medals, both at the Munich event.
Dorothee Schneider is a German dressage rider competing at Olympic level. On 7 August 2012 Schneider was a member of the team which won the silver medal in the team dressage event.

Mixed-sex sports are individual and team sports whose participants are not of a single sex. In organised sports settings, rules usually dictate an equal number of people of each sex in a team. Usually, the main purpose of these rules are to account for physiological sex differences. Mixed-sex sports in informal settings are typically groups of neighbours, friends or family playing without regard to the sex of the participants. Mixed-sex play is also common in children's sports as before puberty and adolescence, sport-relevant sex differences affect performance far less.
