Alexis Readinger (born May 7, 1975) is an American hospitality designer based in Los Angeles. She is the founder of Preen, Inc. [1]

Early life

Alexis Readinger grew up in Ft. Worth, TX. She received a master's degree in architecture from University of California, Los Angeles in 1999 and a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University in 1996.

Career

Readinger began designing restaurants in 1999, formerly with Dodd Mitchell and with Thomas Schoos. [2]

In 2016, she was invited to select the national Restaurant Design Award winners for the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles (AIALA). [3] Her work has been featured in Architectural Digest, [4] Interior Design, [5] Elle Decor [6] and The New York Times . [7]

Notable clients include Chefs Susan Feniger, Mary Sue Milliken, Johnny Ray Zone, Karen and Quinn Hatfield, [8] Jacques and Hasty Torres, [9] Sweet Lady Jane, [10] Akasha Richmond, [11] Jeremy Fox and Jon Bonnell. Her work has been featured in Flip That Restaurant, and Desksides on the Design Network. [12]

She is an active board member of the Los Angeles Chinatown Business Improvement District (BID) and serves on the board of the Chung King Road Association. Her firm, Preen, Inc. curates the closing party to the Los Angeles Design Festival. [13]

The firm was also chosen as the 2014 Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Award Winner in Architecture. In 2010 they were the recipient of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Firm Award. Los Angeles projects completed by the firm include the Solar Umbrella home in Venice, California, the Orange Grove lofts in West Hollywood and the Colorado housing project in Santa Monica.

Slade Architecture is a New York City based architecture and design firm founded in 2002 by Hayes and James Slade. The firm has completed a diverse range of domestic and international projects. Its work has been exhibited and published widely. The Architectural League of New York selected Slade Architecture as a winner of its 2010 Emerging Voices, an annual invited competition for North American firms and individuals with distinct design voices and significant bodies of realized work. Slade Architecture was selected by the New York City Department of Design & Construction to participate in its Excellence in Design and Construction Program in 2004, 2006, 2009, and 2016.

Gehry & Associates, and was an associate of Thom Mayne’s Morphosis Architects for 7 years before leaving to found Tighe Architecture.

Roman and Williams Building and Interiors is an American-owned, New York-based design studio known for its work on hotels, restaurants, retail spaces, homes and product design. Founded in 2002 by Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch, the firm encompasses Roman and Williams Guild New York (RW Guild) - a brick-and-mortar store of premium, artful home furnishings, accessories and housewares which include Roman and Williams' own product design collection as well as specially crafted pieces produced by artisans from around the world. The RW Guild stand-alone is also home to Roman and Williams' French restaurant, La Mercerie, helmed by Chef Marie-Aude Rose and Emily Thompson Flowers.

Barbara Bestor is an American architect based in Los Angeles, California. She is the principal of Bestor Architecture, founded in 1992. Examples of her work include the Beats Electronics Headquarters in Culver City, Blackbirds, small lot housing in Los Angeles, Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea in Los Angeles, the revitalization of Silvertop, originally designed by John Lautner and the Toro Canyon House in Santa Barbara. In 2017 she was elected to the AIA's College of Fellows.

In 2001, the American Institute of Architects California Chapter presented Binder with the California "Firm of the Year" award.

Douglas E. Noble is an American architect and tenured professor at the USC School of Architecture. He is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects. He is known for his work in four overlapping arenas: Architectural Computing, Building Science, Architecture Education, and Design Theories and Methods. He received the ACSA/AIAS New Faculty Teaching Award in 1995, the ACSA Creative Achievement Award in 2013, and the ACSA Practice and Leadership Award in 2023. He was named among the "10 most admired educators" nationally in architecture in 2010 and was twice more selected as a "most admired educator" in 2015 and 2018. Marmol Radziner is a design-build practice based in Los Angeles that was founded in 1989 by American architects Leo Marmol and Ron Radziner. The firm specializes in residential, commercial, hospitality, cultural, and community projects, and offers various design services, including architectural design, construction, landscape design, interior design, furniture design, jewelry design, and modern architecture restoration.

Michael Bauman Burch is a Southern California-based architect. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA). A fourth generation Southern Californian, Burch was raised in Pasadena, CA, and educated at the University of California, Berkeley and the Yale School of Architecture. He has taught at the University of Southern California. Burch founded his firm, Michael Burch Architects, in 1986. He was the original co-curator of an exhibition for the Getty Institute's Pacific Standard Time on the Spanish Colonial/Mediterranean Revival style. Burch's work has appeared in 20 books on the style, including the cover of "the definitive statement on the subject". He was invited to present the work of his firm at the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020, as well as at Moscow's Schusev Architecture Museum in 2020. He has been described as "the greatest living practitioner of the Spanish Colonial/Mediterranean Revival style". In addition to numerous American Institute of Architects awards, his firm has received three Palladio Awards, the sole national award for traditional architecture.

David Montalba, FAIA, SIA, LEED AP is a Swiss-American architect based in Santa Monica, California. He is the founding principal of Montalba Architects, established in 2004.

Aaron Neubert, FAIA is an American architect based in Los Angeles, California and the founder and principal of Aaron Neubert Architects. In 2021, Neubert was elevated to the college of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects for "notable contributions to the advancement of the profession of architecture."
