Alice Maio Mackay (born 4 August 2004) is an Australian filmmaker best known for writing and directing the 2023 queer horror films T Blockers and Satranic Panic. [1]

Early life

Maio Mackay was born in Adelaide, Australia, [2] on 4 August 2004. [a]

Career

Since 2017, Maio Mackay has produced work under her own company, One Manner Productions. Many of her works are crowdfunded. [4] After directing a string of short films, Maio Mackay's debut feature, So Vam, was released in 2021, followed by Bad Girl Boogey the next year. Her subsequent two features, T Blockers and Satranic Panic, premiered in 2023. [5] Maio Mackay's fifth feature film was announced in May 2023. [6] The title, Carnage for Christmas, was revealed that August. [7] It released on May 4, 2024, at the Salem Horror Fest.

Maio Mackay's made her on-screen acting debut in 2024 with Louise Weard's Castration Movie, playing the character of Alyssa.

Artistry

Maio Mackay cites Gregg Araki as a major influence on her filmmaking and incorporates elements of camp into her work. [8] [1]
