Alice Maio Mackay (born August 4, 2004) is an Australian filmmaker best known for writing and directing the 2023 queer horror films T Blockers and Satranic Panic. [1]

Early life

Mackay was born in Adelaide. [2]

Career

Since 2017, Mackay has produced work under her own company, One Manner Productions. Many of her works are crowdfunded. [3] After directing a string of short films, Mackay's debut feature, So Vam, was released in 2021, followed by Bad Girl Boogey the next year. Her subsequent two features, T Blockers and Satranic Panic, premiered in 2023. [4]

Mackay's fifth feature film was announced in May 2023. [5] The title, Carnage for Christmas, was revealed that August. [6]

Artistry

Mackay cites Gregg Araki as a major influence on her filmmaking and incorporates elements of camp into her work. [7] [1]

Personal life

Mackay is a transgender woman. [7] She resides in Sydney. [2]
