Alice Wetterlund (born May 16, 1981) is an American stand-up comedian, actress, and podcast host. [1] She played Carla Walton on the HBO sitcom Silicon Valley , [2] and currently plays D'arcy Bloom on the SyFy TV series Resident Alien . [3]

Early life and education

Wetterlund was born in Minneapolis and relocated to New York City in 1999, where she attended Cooper Union. [4]

Career

Wetterlund began doing stand-up comedy in the late 2000s, and performed with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre improv group from 2008 on. This led to an audition [5] for MTV's Girl Code , [6] where one of her notable parts was in a parody TV commercial for "Culture Culture Probiotics", a "cure" for diarrhea. [7] Since then, she has been featured in many television commercials for companies such as BMW, Lenscrafters, Scotch Brite and Southwest Airlines. [8] She has appeared on Cave Comedy Radio as a teacher of meditation and cat whispering. [9]

Wetterlund and Veronica Osorio co-host the Star Trek: The Next Generation podcast Treks and the City. Wetterlund and Kevin Porter co-host the Maisel Goys (hosted under the Gilmore Guys podcast) about Amazon Prime's television series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel . She currently plays D'Arcy Bloom in the Syfy series Resident Alien .

Personal life

Wetterlund married comedian Andy Haynes on September 20, 2011; they divorced two years later. [10] [11]

Girl Code is an American comedy television series that premiered on MTV on April 23, 2013. It is a spin-off series to Guy Code. The series features actresses, musicians, stand-up comics—plus a few men—who discuss the sisterhood that women share. It was announced on June 13, 2013, that the series had been renewed for a twenty-episode second season, which premiered on October 30, 2013. In April 2014, MTV announced the third season renewal of Girl Code, which premiered on October 1, 2014. In August 2015, MTV premiered a spin-off talk show called Girl Code Live hosted by Awkwafina, Nessa, and Carly Aquilino.

Gilmore Guys is an audio podcast that follows comedian Kevin T. Porter and writer/performer Demi Adejuyigbe as they watch every episode of the television series Gilmore Girls. The show represented two points of view, as Porter was a longtime Gilmore Girls fan and Adejuyigbe was watching it for the first time. They started the podcast in October 2014, the same day that Gilmore Girls became available on Netflix, and released their final regular episode in June 2017.

My Dad Wrote a Porno was a British comedy podcast hosted by Jamie Morton, James Cooper, and Alice Levine. Published from 4 October 2015 to 12 December 2022, each episode of the podcast featured Morton reading a new chapter of Belinda Blinked, an amateur erotic novel series written by his father under the pen name Rocky Flintstone. Morton, Cooper, and Levine react to the material and provide running commentary. Each episode featured Cooper and Levine hearing the chapter for the first time, whereas Morton had read the chapter beforehand to prepare.

<i>Resident Alien</i> (TV series) American television series

Resident Alien is an American science fiction mystery comedy-drama television series created by Chris Sheridan, based on the comic book of the same title by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, that premiered its 10-episode first season on January 27, 2021, on Syfy. It stars Alan Tudyk in the title role. In March 2021, it was renewed for a second season which premiered January 26, 2022. The second season consists of 16 episodes, split into two eight-episode parts; the second half premiered on August 10, 2022. In July 2022, it was renewed for an eight-episode third season, which premiered February 14, 2024.
