All India Tribes and Minorities Front is a political party in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The party works for the issues affecting the adivasi population. The party president was social activist Mangal Singh Negi, who died in 2017 aged 86. [1]

AITMF advocates United Nations involvement as mediators in the Kashmir issue. The party also advocates a trifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir in Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh.

Bhim Singh (politician)

Bhim Singh is an Indian politician, activist, lawyer and author. He is the founder and president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP), a political organisation based in the conflict-torn Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. He survived an assassination attempt by the senior superintendent of police, while leading the Jammu student protests of 1966, and went on to found the Panthers Party in 1982, along with his wife Jay Mala. Bhim Singh was Panthers Party chairman for 30 years, until 2012 when he nominated his nephew Harsh Dev Singh in place. In 2021, Bhim Singh made a return to active leadership aged 79, when he was elected president of Panthers Party. In the 2002 Jammu and Kashmir Elections, Panthers Party under his leadership won all seats in the Udhampur district, and formed part of the coalition government. In 2015, Bhim Singh's book Unbelievable - Delhi to Islamabad, was released by Indian vice-president Ansari, chronicling his efforts as a Supreme Court advocate, gaining the release of over 700 falsely accused prisoners, from Indian and Pakistani jails. He is believed to be the first man from India to visit 150 countries, and the second volume of his book documenting these travels, Peace Mission: Around the World on Motorcycle, was released by Dr. Karan Singh the erstwhile crown prince of Jammu and Kashmir. Bhim Singh was elected member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (1977–87) from Chenani-Ghordi (Udhampur), and was nominated by successive Prime Ministers of India as member of the National Integration Council (1991-2016). Bhim Singh, as leader of the Panthers Party, won the 1988 Udhampur by-election to the Indian parliament, despite the Election Commission of India, attempting to rig it against him.

Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Political party in India

The Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party is a state political party in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The party was founded on 23 March 1982 by Prof. Bhim Singh and a few prominent youth political personalities of the time including Jay Mala, former President of the Indian Students Congress. Its aim is to "demolish corruption, communalism, criminalization, drug menace" and to establish a real democracy through ultimate revolution. Panthers Party had campaigned for over three decades for the abolition of Article 370 and Article 35A, demanding that the special status of the State of Jammu and Kashmir be revoked, and for it to be fully assimilated into the Republic of India. These demands were finally met by a presidential order in August 2019 that revoked Jammu and Kashmir's special status. Panthers Party campaigns for a further division of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, with the recognition of Hindu-majority Jammu Division as a new and separate state of India.

Article 370 of the Constitution of India Law granting Jammu and Kashmir special status

Article 370 of the Indian constitution gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, a region located in the northern part of Indian subcontinent which was administered by India as a state from 1954 to 31 October 2019, conferring it with the power to have a separate constitution, a state flag and autonomy over the internal administration of the state. The Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir is part of the larger region of Kashmir which has been a subject of dispute since 1947 between India, Pakistan and, partly, China.

Karan Singh Indian politician

Karan Singh is an Indian politician, philanthropist and poet. He belongs to the Jamwal Dogra Dynasty, and is the son of the late Maharaja Hari Singh of Jammu and Kashmir and was born in Cannes, France. From 1947 he worked closely, as a teenager, with Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Patel during the transition of the Republic of India, from Dominion of India and in 1967 became the youngest ever union cabinet minister in the government of Indira Gandhi. He was the Prince regent of Jammu and Kashmir until 1952. Following which at age 21 years old, Karan Singh served as the first Head of State of Jammu and Kashmir from 1952 to 1965. In the 2012 Indian Presidential Election, Indian National Congress had nominated him as the Presidential Candidate which was then changed to Vice President Hamid Ansari.

Dogra dynasty Hindu dynasty of Jammu and Kashmir

The Dogra dynasty Dogra Rajput Hindu from Shiwalik Himalayas created Jammu and Kashmir when all dynastic kingdoms in India were being absorbed under East India Company. Events led Punjab to recognise Jammu in 1820 and later British added Kashmir in Jammu by 1846.

2014 Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly election

The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly election, 2014 was held in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir in five phases from 25 November – 20 December 2014. Voters elected 87 members to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, which ends its six-year term on 19 January 2015. The results were declared on 23 December 2014. Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) along with EVMs were used in 3 assembly seats out of 87 in Jammu Kashmir elections.

Elections for the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir were held over June 1977, which are generally regarded as the first 'free and fair' elections in the state. Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, newly revived from the former Plebiscite Front, won an overwhelming majority and re-elected Sheikh Abdullah as the Chief Minister.

The 2016–2017 unrest in Kashmir, also known as the Burhan aftermath, refers to a series of violent protests in the Kashmir Valley and subsequently Chenab valley, Poonch district and Rajouri district of Northern Jammu division in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It started with the killing of Burhan Wani, a commander of the Kashmir-based Islamic militant organisation Hizbul Mujahideen, by Indian security forces on 8 July 2016. After his killing, anti-Indian protests started in all 10 districts of the Kashmir Valley. Protesters defied curfew with attacks on security forces and public properties.

Jay Mala is an Indian journalist, politician, advocate and social activist. She is a contributing editor for the National Herald, a newspaper founded by the first Prime Minister of India. She was co-founder of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, prior to which she was President of the Indian Student Congress. Jay Mala is a senior advocate of the Supreme Court of India, who in a 1985 landmark case sued the State of Jammu and Kashmir changing tort law in India.

Elections for the Constituent Assembly of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir were held in September–October 1951. Sheikh Abdullah was appointed Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Following frictions with various groups, Abdullah was dismissed in August 1953 and imprisoned. Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad was appointed as the next Prime Minister.

Balwant Singh Negi

Lieutenant General Balwant Singh Negi, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, SM, VSM & Bar is a former General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command of the Indian Army who served in office from 1 December 2015 till 30 September 2018. He assumed the post after Lt General Rajan Bakshi retired and was succeeded by Lt General Abhay Krishna.

Kathua rape case

The Kathua rape case involved the abduction, gang rape, and murder of an 8-year-old girl, Asifa Bano, in January 2018 in the Rasana village near Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir, India. A chargesheet for the case was filed, the accused were arrested and the trial began in Kathua on 16 April 2018. The victim belonged to the nomadic Bakarwal community. She disappeared for a week before her body was discovered by the villagers a kilometer away from the village. The incident made national news when charges were filed against eight men in April 2018. The arrests of the accused led to protests by the Panthers Party and other local groups, who sought justice for the victim. A protest in support of the accused men was attended by two ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party, both of whom later resigned. The gang rape and murder, as well as the support the accused received, sparked widespread outrage in India and world-wide.

Ikkjutt Jammu Indian political party

Ikkjutt Jammu is a political party based in the Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It advocates for the creation of a separate Jammu state out of the districts of Jammu Division. Ikkjutt Jammu also demands the bifurcation of Kashmir Division into two Union Territories, one being Panun Kashmir for Kashmiri Hindus. It was founded in November 2020 and is currently led by Ankur Sharma.
