Alliance Ethnik was a 1990s French hip hop group. It was composed of five members from different origins, but all spoke French or were of French origin; Algeria, Congo, Italy, and France. [1]

History

K-Mel, the front man of Alliance Ethnik, performed for the first time in his home town of Creil, France. He formed the group with friends Médard and Gutsy, which expanded to include the DJs Crazy B and Faster J soon after this debut. The members recorded a demo tape which was heard by IZB, a group of rap promoters, who put them in a Paris concert with the Marseille rap group IAM in 1992. [1]

The group began recording in 1994, with an appearance on the compilation album Mondial Rap [2] but its first album was Simple & Funky, released in 1995. It included the singles "Simple & Funky", "Respect" and "Honesty & Jalousie". [1]

Its principal members were the Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, and A Tribe Called Quest. The collective was also closely tied to the Universal Zulu Nation. Rolling Stone cites the track "Doin' Our Own Dang" as "the definitive Native Tongues posse cut".

Funky Divas is the second studio album by American recording group En Vogue, released by Atlantic Records division East West on March 24, 1992 in the United States. Conceived after the success of their Grammy Award–nominated debut album Born to Sing (1990), En Vogue reteamed with their founders Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy to work on the entire album. As with Born to Sing, the pair borrowed from contemporary R&B, new jack swing, and hip hop, while also incorporating classic soul, blues and doo-wop elements, particularly on its on two Sparkle cover versions, as well as, in the case of "Free Your Mind," heavy metal sounds.

IAM (band) French hip hop band

IAM is a French hip hop band from Marseille. Formed in 1989, it comprises Akhenaton, Shurik'n, Khéops, Imhotep and Kephren. IAM has several meanings, including Invasion Arrivée de Mars. Another meaning is Imperial Asiatic Man, while AKH often refers to L'homme Impérial Asiatique.

Dubmatique

Dubmatique is a French Canadian hip hop group formed in the 1990s in Montreal, Quebec. Groupmates Dj Choice, OTMC, and Jérôme-Philippe are the first French-language hip-hop group from Canada to have a number one hit single on the francophone pop charts. Dubmatique is often regarded as one of the groups that launched French Canadian Hip Hop, and within this category they are the only group to have an album certified Platinum.

Daft Punk discography band discography

French electronic music duo Daft Punk released four studio albums, two live albums, one compilation album, one soundtrack album, three remix albums, two video albums, twenty-two singles and nineteen music videos. Group members Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo met in 1987 while studying at the Lycée Carnot secondary school. They subsequently recorded several demo tracks together, forming Daft Punk in 1993. Their debut single "The New Wave" was released the following year on the Soma Quality Recordings label. His motivation and inspiration is grounded in the Burkinabé revolutionary Thomas Sankara's phrase: "Let's dare to invent our future!"

"Simple & Funky" is a 1995 song recorded by French rap band Alliance Ethnik. Written by George Clinton, Kamel Houairi, Nicolas Vadon, Mickael Darmon and Fabrice Henri, and produced by Bob Power, it was released in June 1995 as the second single from the album Simple & Funky, on which it appears as the 13th track. It was very successful in France and Belgium (Wallonia), becoming Alliance Ethnik's second top three in both countries.
