Allstate in Northern Ireland, also styled as Allstate NI, is a digital centre of excellence based in Belfast and Derry in Northern Ireland.

As a subsidiary of The Allstate Corporation, a Fortune 100 company and one of the largest insurers in the US, Allstate drives innovation and digital transformation with a cloud-first approach, which positions the organisation at the forefront of technology innovation in Northern Ireland. This accelerates delivery, enhancing millions of global customer experiences.

As of 2023, the company employs around 2,400 workers. [1]

History

The company was previously known as "Northbrook Technology". As of May 7, 2008, Northbrook Technology was rebranded to Allstate in Northern Ireland. [2] [3]

The company established its first office in Corporation Street, Belfast. The company then moved its headquarters to a larger building in Lanyon Place. In 2018 they moved into a new building in Mays Meadow.

In 2008 they opened another two offices in Derry Strabane. [2] [4] The Strabane office is due to close in 2023, with employees continuing to work from home. [5]

In 2015, Allstate in Northern Ireland opened an Extreme Agile software development lab and learning space (CompoZed Labs) [6] in its Belfast headquarters. [7]

Leadership

In March 2023, Stephen McKeown became Vice President and Managing Director at Allstate NI. [8]

Awards

Allstate NI is Northern Ireland's largest and most successful IT company, winning business awards at local and national level, including two Queen's Award for Enterprise. [9] for 'Best Enterprise and International Trade' in 2005 for 'Enterprise - Sustainable Development' in 2014.

In 2022, the company won 11 business and corporate awards, including Digital DNA’s Workplace of the Year. [10]

Great Victoria Street was a railway station that served the city centre of Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was one of two main stations in the city, along with Lanyon Place, and was nearest to the city centre. The station was situated beside Great Victoria Street and shared a site with the Europa Buscentre, Belfast's former main bus station. The railway and bus stations were replaced by the adjacent Belfast Grand Central station with the official opening on 13 October 2024. Great Victoria Street railway station closed permanently on 10 May 2024, with a bus transfer service operating until rail services commenced from Belfast Grand Central, with a service to Dublin at 8:05 a.m. on 13 October 2024. Europa Buscentre closed permanently on 7 September 2024, with bus services immediately transferring to the new station, commencing with a service to Dublin at 5 a.m. on 8 September 2024.

On 29 April 2024, Seenoi-Barr made history after being selected as the next First Citizen of Derry City and Strabane, and consequently as Northern Ireland's first black mayor.
