Alorna (Halarn) is a village in the Pernem Sub-Division of North Goa, India. Alorna is famous for the Alorna Fort.
It is located at 15°42′57″N73°53′55″E / 15.71583°N 73.89861°E . [1] This village is boundered by Menkurem to the south, Ibrampur and Sal to the east, Hansapur and the Maharashtra inter-state border to the north, and Chandel and Cansarvornem to its west.
The Times of India newspaper, saying that "there was a time when many bitter battles were fought over [this fort's] possession" notes that Alorna fort has "all but faded into oblivion". [2] This news-report also points to reports of the Goa Department of Archives and Archaeology reviving the fort (in June 2018) "after more than a century of neglect".

Querim Beach is the sandy coastline of the Querim village of Pernem, Goa. It is the largest northernmost beach in Goa. It is located to the north of the Arambol beach, but in order to reach there by foot, one has to walk through the hill and jungle between the Paliem Sweet Water Lake and Querim Beach. Querim is 30 Kilometers from Mapusa. From the north side of Querim beach, one can see a restaurant and bar on a high hill on the Tiracol side of the Tiracol River. There is also a resort by the name "Hotel Hill Rock" next to it, which is known for its peaceful atmosphere and has a small but well equipped Bistro on the property. On the highest most cliff at the Tiracol side is the Fort Tiracol, which is now converted into a heritage hotel.

The siege of Alorna in 1746 was a military engagement that took place in India, between Portuguese forces under the command of the Viceroy of India Dom Pedro Miguel de Almeida Portugal, and those of the Sawantwadi State then part of the Maratha Confederacy, which were defeated. It was the crowning achievement in the career of Dom Pedro Miguel as Viceroy of India, and as a reward for his services to the Portuguese Crown he was later attributed the title Marquis of Alorna.
The Battle of Tiracol was a military engagement between Portuguese forces under the command of the Viceroy of India Dom Pedro Miguel de Almeida Portugal e Vasconcelos against the Bhonsles at Tiracol. It was part of the Novas Conquistas or "New Conquests" campaigns.
