Fairfield University is a private Jesuit university in Fairfield, Connecticut. It was founded by the Jesuits in 1942. In 2023, the university had about 5,000 full-time undergraduate students and 1,200 graduate students, including full-time and part-time students. It offers bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctoral degrees through its five schools and colleges.
Total Mortgage Arena is a 10,000-seat multi-purpose arena in downtown Bridgeport, Connecticut, United States. It is the home venue of the Bridgeport Islanders of the American Hockey League (AHL). Managed by the Oak View Group, the arena was built alongside the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater and opened on October 10, 2001. Webster Bank entered into a 10-year $3.5 million agreement on January 6, 2011, with the City of Bridgeport for the arena naming rights. When this agreement ended, the City entered into a new one on March 8, 2022, that granted the naming rights to Total Mortgage of Milford, Connecticut.
Jennifer Marie Rizzotti is a retired American collegiate and professional basketball player, and former Division I coach at George Washington University. She is the president of the Connecticut Sun. Rizzotti was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.

WVOF is a radio station licensed to Fairfield, Connecticut. The station is owned by Fairfield University. As of August 2008, the station has been a partner with Connecticut Public Radio and carries Connecticut Public Radio and NPR programming.

Lessing Field is a multi-purpose lacrosse and soccer stadium on the campus of Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. It is home to the Fairfield Stags men's and women's lacrosse and soccer teams. Previously named Varsity Field it was renovated in 2002 including the installation of high-durability sod, a new irrigation and drainage systems, new lights for night games and new stands with capacity for 600 fans. Lessing Field is named in honor of Stephen Lessing '76, a former member of the Fairfield Stags men's tennis team and current member of the Fairfield University Board of Trustees whose generosity allowed for the stadium renovations.
The Samford Bulldogs are the 17 varsity teams that represent Samford University in NCAA Division I athletics. The men's basketball team made its first NCAA Tournament appearances in 1999 and 2000. They were led by Reed Rawlings, Marc Salyers, and Chris Weaver. The women's basketball team made its initial NCAA tournament appearance in the 2011 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament and made its second consecutive appearance in the tournament in 2012. The baseball team made its first NCAA tournament appearance in the 2012 NCAA Division I baseball tournament, reaching the finals of the Tallahassee Regional.

They finished the season 16–15, 11–9 in MAAC play to finish in fifth place. As the No. 5 seed in the MAAC tournament, they lost in the quarterfinals to Siena. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they lost in the first round to UMBC.

They finished the 2018–19 season 9–22 overall, 6–12 in MAAC play to finish in a three-way tie for ninth place. As the 10th seed in the 2019 MAAC tournament, they were defeated by No. 7 seed Manhattan in the first round 53–57.

They finished the season 12–20, 8–12 in MAAC play, to finish in a tie for eighth place. They lost in the first round of the MAAC tournament to Manhattan.

As the No. 7 seed in the MAAC tournament, they defeated No. 10 seed Manhattan in the first round, upset No. 2 seed Monmouth in the quarterfinals, upset No. 3 seed Saint Peter's in the semifinals to reach the championship game, where they lost to No. 9 seed Iona 51–60.

The Stags, led by sixth-year head coach Paul Cormier, played their home games at Alumni Hall in Fairfield, Connecticut as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 11–19, 2–12 in MAAC play to finish in eighth place. In the MAAC tournament, they went on a surprising run to the title by defeating Iona, Saint Peter's, and Canisius to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 16 seed in the East region. In the opening round, the Stags were beaten by No. 1 seed and eventual Final Four participant North Carolina in a competitive game, 82–74.

The Stags, led by fifteenth-year head coach Joe Frager, played their home games at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). They finished the season 25–7, 19–1 in MAAC play, to win the MAAC regular-season and tournament titles. They received an automatic mid to the NCAA women's basketball tournament where they lost to Texas in the first round.

The Stags, led by first year head coach Mitch Buonaguro, played their home games at Alumni Hall in Fairfield, Connecticut as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 24–7, 13–1 in MAAC play to win the conference regular season title. They also won the MAAC tournament to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 13 seed in the Southeast region. Making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Stags were beaten by No. 4 seed Illinois, 75–51.

The Stags, led by second year head coach Mitch Buonaguro, played their home games at Alumni Hall in Fairfield, Connecticut as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 15–16, 5–9 in MAAC play to 7th during the conference regular season. The Stags elevated their play to win the MAAC tournament and earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 16 seed in the Midwest region. Making their second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Stags were beaten by No. 1 seed and eventual National champion Indiana, 92–58, in the opening round.

Leo D. Mahoney Arena is a 3,500-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of Fairfield University, located in Fairfield, Connecticut. It is home to the Fairfield Stags men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball teams. The 85,000 square foot building was opened in November 2022 on the site of Fairfield's former on campus arena, Alumni Hall. With the opening of Mahoney Arena, the men's Stags basketball team played all its home games on campus for the first time in 2022-23 since the 1999-2000 season, instead of the larger Total Mortgage Arena in nearby Bridgeport. In addition to sporting events, the arena will also host other campus events such as concerts and graduations.
