Alyssa Parker (born August 4, 1994) is an American field hockey player who plays for the US national team.
Parker's mom was a field hockey player. When her sister took up field hockey, she decided to start playing as well. [1]
Parker played field hockey for Glenelg High School. [1] She was the first player in the Washington area to score 100 goals during her high school career. [1] She also recorded 100 assists, and is only the second player in the country to have at least 100 goals and assists. [1] She was named the Baltimore Sun's Player of the Year in 2011. [2]
Parker played for the University of Maryland in college. [3]
Parker was part of the US National Team that played in the 2019 FIH Pro League, [4] as well as the 2020 FIH Pro League. [5]
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with eleven players in total, made up of ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must move a hockey ball around a pitch by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, or indoor boarded surface.
Leonard Edward Moore is an American former professional football player who played both halfback and flanker in the National Football League (NFL) for the Baltimore Colts from 1956 to 1967. He played college football for Penn State Nittany Lions. He was named the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1956 and was selected to the Pro Bowl seven times. Moore was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1975.
The Baltimore Skipjacks were a minor league professional ice hockey team from Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The Skipjacks originated in 1979, and played as the Baltimore Clippers in the Eastern Hockey League for two seasons. The team was renamed to Skipjacks in 1981, and played the following season in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League. The Skipjacks then played eleven seasons as members of the American Hockey League (AHL), from 1982 until 1993. The Skipjacks were one of three AHL teams to have been based in Baltimore, including the Baltimore Clippers, and the Baltimore Bandits. The Skipjacks operated as a farm team to the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals for five seasons each, and were previously a farm team to the Minnesota North Stars for two seasons, the Boston Bruins for one season. The team played its home games at the Baltimore Civic Center, which was renamed to the Baltimore Arena in 1986.
Jeffrey Craig Halpern is an American former professional ice hockey player. He played for the Washington Capitals twice, Dallas Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, and Phoenix Coyotes. In 14 NHL seasons, he had 152 goals and 221 assists in 976 regular-season games. He also had seven goals and 14 points in 39 Stanley Cup playoff games. He was also captain of the United States national team for the 2008 World Championships.
The Baltimore Clippers were a minor league professional ice hockey team from in Baltimore, Maryland, playing in the Baltimore Civic Center. The Clippers were members of the American Hockey League from 1962 to 1976, and then played one season in the Southern Hockey League. The team was managed by Terry Reardon for its first fourteen seasons, and won three division titles, but were unable to capture a Calder Cup title. Baltimore began as a farm team for the New York Rangers, and helped develop Hall of Fame players including, Eddie Giacomin, Doug Harvey, Jacques Plante and Jean Ratelle. The Clippers also featured eight alumni, who are now members of the AHL Hall of Fame. The team name "Clippers", was used by two previous professional hockey teams in Baltimore, and paid homage to local history in the Baltimore Clipper, and the Port of Baltimore.
Atholton High School is a high school in Columbia, Maryland, United States and is a part of the Howard County public school system. The school hosts an Army JROTC program. The school mascot is the Raider.
Glenelg Country School is a nonsectarian, co-educational independent day school in Howard County, Maryland, adjacent to Columbia, Maryland and between Baltimore and Washington, D.C. The School offers a continuous college-preparatory program from age 2 through grade 12. GCS was founded in 1954, enrolling 35 students in grades one through seven. In the fall of 1985, the new Upper School division opened with 10 students. The first class graduated in June 1989. Today, Glenelg Country School enrolls over 750 students.
James Thomas Parker was an American professional football player who an offensive tackle and guard for the Baltimore Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He played from 1957 to 1967, and was a member of Baltimore's NFL championship teams in 1958 and 1959. He was selected as a first-team All-Pro in nine of his eleven seasons in the NFL. Parker was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1973.

Kathleen "Katie" O'Donnell Bam is an American field hockey player. She was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, and attended Wissahickon High School in Ambler, Pennsylvania. O'Donnell began playing for the Maryland Terrapins in the 2007 season. She was the youngest member of the 2005 United States women's national team and has become known for her excellent stick skills and ability to create. Her attributes were put on full display throughout her freshman campaign as she earned a starting position for the preseason number-one team in the country at forward.
Christine Marie Nairn is an American retired soccer player from Annapolis, Maryland. She previously played for the Houston Dash, Orlando Pride, Washington Spirit, and Seattle Reign FC in the United States National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and had regular loan spells with Melbourne Victory in the Australian W-League. She represented the United States at senior level and numerous youth levels. In 2008, she helped the under-20 national team win gold at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Chile. Nairn retired from professional soccer on September 18, 2021, to pursue a career as a professional firefighter with the Houston Fire Department.

Alex Aust is an American women’s lacrosse player. Having played with the Maryland Terrapins at the collegiate level, she was named to the US national team for the 2015-16 season and is currently still an active member, wearing jersey number 10. In 2016, she was selected by the Baltimore Ride with their second pick overall in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League Draft.
Erin Matson is an American former field hockey player and the current head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels field hockey team. A standout player on that team from 2018 to 2022, she led the Tar Heels to win four NCAA Championships.
The 2019 Women's FIH Olympic Qualifiers was the final stage of the qualification for the women's field hockey event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. It was held in October and November 2019.
Kealsie Monique Robles is an American field hockey goalkeeper who plays for the US national team.
Derrick Raymond Lewis is an American-French former professional basketball player. A Tarboro, North Carolina native, he played high school basketball at Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, D.C., where he was a McDonald's All-American as a senior in 1984. He then played in college with the Maryland Terrapins, staying for 4 years; he was a first-team All-ACC selection and an Honorable mention All-American as a junior in 1987, and a second-team All-ACC selection as a senior in 1988. As of 2020 he is the program's all-time leader in blocks and ranks third in rebounds. He was drafted in the third round of the 1988 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls, but he did not play in the NBA. After one season in the Continental Basketball Association, Lewis moved to France where he played for 15 seasons, 13 of which in the LNB Pro A, the top level of French basketball, where he was a 5-time blocks leader and a 2-time All-Star.

Diamond Miller is an American professional basketball player for the Minnesota Lynx of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the Maryland Terrapins. Miller attended Franklin High School in Somerset, New Jersey, where she was rated a five-star recruit by ESPN and earned McDonald's All-American honors in 2019. At Maryland, she was named an All-American as a senior, won Most Outstanding Player of the 2021 Big Ten tournament and left as a three-time All-Big Ten selection. Miller won a gold medal with the United States national team at the 2021 FIBA Women's AmeriCup. She was selected 2nd overall in the 2023 WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx.
