Rahul Dev Burman was an Indian music director and actor, who is considered to be one of the greatest and most successful music directors of the Hindi film music industry. From the 1960s to the 1990s, Burman composed musical scores for 331 films, bringing a new level of music ensemble with his compositions. Burman did his major work with legendary singers Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, and Asha Bhosle. He also worked extensively with lyricist Gulzar, with whom he has some of the most memorable numbers in his career. Nicknamed Pancham, he was the only son of the composer Sachin Dev Burman and his Bengali lyricist wife Meera Dev Burman.
Parineeta is a 1953 Indian Hindi-language drama film starring Meena Kumari and Ashok Kumar, based upon the 1914 Bengali novella of the same name by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The film was directed by Bimal Roy. He also won National Film Awards of Bangladesh for Sesh Porjonto (1969).
Rahgir is a Bollywood romantic social drama film. It was released in 1969 and directed by Tarun Majumdar. The film was produced by Geetanjali Pictures and had music by Hemant Kumar. The film had Biswajeet playing the central role of Rahgir where his acting "attracted attention". Costarring with Biswajeet were Sandhya Roy, Shashikala, Kanhaiyalal, Iftekhar, Nirupa Roy and Asit Sen. The film was based on Angti Chattujjer Vai, a Bengali novel of Manoj Basu. The story is about Biswajeet playing an impetuous young man in search "for the meaning of life" and is regarded as one of his most credible performances. The movie is a remake of 1963 Bengali movie Palatak.

The film was released on 11 April 1952. It was the debut film of legendary Bengali actress Supriya Devi. It was the first successful film starring Uttam Kumar and it became a superhit at the box office. After seven back to back flop films he was called 'flop master general', and he considered to leave the film industry. The success of this film saved his career. The film was remade in Hindi as Hum Hindustani in 1960.

Lead singers of the film are Asha Bhosle, Amit Kumar, Bhupinder Singh and Varsha Bhosle with the songs composed by Hemant Bhosle.
