Debashree Roy also known as Debasree Roy, is an Indian actress, dancer, choreographer, politician and animal rights activist. As an actress, she is known for her work in Hindi and Bengali cinema. She has been cited as the reigning queen of Bengali commercial cinema. She acted in more than a hundred films and won over forty awards, including a National Award, three BFJA Awards, five Kalakar Awards and an Anandalok Award. As a dancer, she is known for her stage adaptations of the various forms of Indian folk dances as well as her innovative dance forms imbued with elements from Indian classical, tribal and folk dance. She runs Natraj dance troupe. She is the founder of Debasree Roy Foundation, a non-profit organisation that works for the cause of stray animals. Roy was a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Raidighi constituency since 2011 till 2021.

<i>Abaidha</i> 2002 Indian film

Abaidha is a Bengali film written by Partha Banerjee and Subbir Mukherjee, and directed by Gul Bahar Singh. The film stars Chiranjeet Chakraborty, Debashree Roy, and Rajit Kapur. It was shown in the Montreal film festival and Commonwealth film festival in Manchester in 2002. The film has won the Bengal film journalists' association award for best actor for Chiranjeet Chakraborty. The film has also participated in the 2002 4th Cinemaya festival of Asian Cinema in New Delhi.

Shambhu Bhattacharya was a Bengali actor and stage artist.

Masum Babul was a Bangladeshi film dance director and choreographer. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Choreography twice, for the film Dola (1993) and Ki Jadu Karila (2008). He is also best known for the films Beder Meye Josna (1989), Koti Takar Kabin (2006), and Bikkhov (1994). Babul died on 6 March 2023, at age 60.
