Vinjamuri Venkata Lakshmi Narasimha Rao (born 1887, date of death unknown) was an Indian stage actor, Telugu-Sanskrit pandit and author.

He studied at Pithapuram. He was attracted to the stage acting and played Graciana role in the Merchant of Venice at the age of 10 years. He got the attention of Head master Kuchi Narasimham.

Pithapuram Town

Pithapuram or Peetika Puram is a town and a municipality in East Godavari district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The town also forms a part of Godavari Urban Development Authority. The temple town is one of fifty five Sakti Peetikas.

He joined the drama company 'Kakinada Amateurs' in 1913 and played the role of Gaya in Gayopakhyanam . In the drama competitions of the same drama he received the first prize from Kurma Venkata Reddy Naidu. He used to play Dharmaraja in Pandava Vijayam. His favorite role was Bahuka in Chitranalineeyam of Dharmavaram. During the plays of Rasaputra vijayam, Pratarudriyam, Sarangadhara dramas in 1918 at Victoria Public Hall, they were appreciated by doyen of Indian drama Bellary Raghava.

Gayopakhyanam is a Telugu play written by Chilakamarti Lakshmi Narasimham in 1890. It is also called Prachanda Yadavam. This play is the forerunner in presenting fictional themes in the Hindu Epics. The plot is based on war between Nara-Narayana, the incarnation of Arjuna and Sri Krishna induced by Gaya, a Gandharva King.

Sarangadhara is an epic story during the reign of Rajaraja Narendra. Gurajada Apparao wrote the story in long poetic form in English and published in "Indian Leisure Hour" in 1883. It was a favourite Telugu drama and made into South Indian films.

Family

He married Venkataratnamma, who launched and edited Anasuya, the first women’s magazine in Telugu, featuring women writers and Ajanta style illustrations. Their daughter was named after the magazine. He has two daughters: Vinjamuri Seetha Devi and Vinjamuri Anasuya Devi. Devulapalli Krishna Sastry was his nephew.

Gurazada Venkata Apparao was a noted Indian playwright, dramatist, poet, and writer known for his works in Telugu theatre. Rao wrote the play Kanyasulkam in 1892, which is often considered the greatest play in the Telugu language. One of the pioneers of Indian theatre, Rao holds the titles Kavisekhara and Abyudaya Kavitha Pithamahudu. In 1910, Rao has scripted the widely known Telugu patriotic song "Desamunu Preminchumanna".

Chilakalapudi Seeta Rama Anjaneyulu, better known as C. S. R. Anjaneyulu or just CSR, was an Indian film method actor, and thespian best known for his works in Telugu cinema, and Telugu theater.
