Rebakanta Mahanta is a Sattriya artist from Assam, India, who specialises in traditional bamboo mask masking. He started learning the art of mask making as a child from his father. [1] For his contribution in the field of mask masking, he has been a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2014, [2] Shilp Guru Award in 2008 and Bishu Prasad Rabha. [3] in 2015. [4]

The artist, along with his wife Archana Mahanta and son Angaraag Mahanta who is known as Papon, represent one of the most influential families in Assamese music. He died on 12 June 2014.

Birubala Rabha is an Indian activist who campaigns against witch-hunting in India. She is based in Goalpara, Assam. She runs an organisation called Mission Birubala which spreads awareness against witch hunting. She was instrumental in the Assam Government passing the Prevention of and Protection from Witch Hunting Act, 2015. The Government of India awarded her the fourth-highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2021, for her contributions to social work.
