Amar Noorie (also spelled as Amar Noori) is an Indian singer and actress who works in Punjabi-language films. She was married to Sardool Sikander, a noted Punjabi singer. [1] [2]
Amar Noorie was born on 23 May 1967 in village Rangeelpur, Ropar District in Punjab. She was married to Sardool Sikander on 30 January 1993. She lives in GTB Nagar, Khanna, Distt. Ludhiana but now currently they live village Bullepur, Khanna. Punjab Noorie started professional singing at an early age when she was only 9 years old. [3] Her father Roshan Sagar was a singer. She started singing with Punjabi singer Didar Sandhu in 1981, [4] and made her first recording when she was only 13. [3] In 1986, she met Sardool Sikander and they started singing together and later got married. Amar Noorie Always Loved Yellow Colour. Later she started acting and played lead and important roles in many Punjabi films. Her first acting break came in 1988 in a landmark TV series "Eho Hamara Jeevna", directed by Gurbir Singh Grewal (based on a novel of Dalip Kaur Tiwana)

Bhangra is a type of non-traditional music of Punjab originating in Britain, specifically Southall. It is a type of upbeat popular music associated with the Punjabi diaspora in Britain. The style has its origins in the folk music of Punjab as well as western pop music of the 1970s and 1980s. Prior to this musical fusion, Bhangra existed only as a dance form in the native Punjab. This Punjabi music was unique in that it was not traditional nor did it seek any authenticity. While the traditional folk music of Punjab has a set of melodies that are used by various singers, Bhangra was a form of strict "band culture" in that new melodies were composed for each song. Therefore, the musicians were as important as the singers.
Amar Singh Chamkila was an Indian singer and musician of Punjabi music. Chamkila and his wife Amarjot were killed, along with two members of their band on 8 March 1988 in an assassination which remains unresolved.
Surjit Bindrakhia was a singer from Punjab, India. He was known for his unique voice and hekh, in which he sings a note continuously in one breath. His biggest hits include Meri Nath Dig Paye, Dupatta Tera Satrang Da, Lakk Tunoo Tunoo, Bas Kar Bas Kar, Mukhda Dekh Ke, Tera Yaar Bolda, and Jatt Di Pasand. Surjit is considered to have one of the greatest voices in Bhangra. He received a special jury award at the 2004 Filmfare Awards for his contribution to Punjabi music.
Sardool Sikander was an Indian singer associated with Punjabi-language folk and pop music, who made his first appearances on radio and television in the early 1980s with his introductory album, "Roadways Di Laari". He also acted in some Punjabi language films, like Jagga Daku. Sardool's father, the late Sagar Mastana, was a famous tabla player who invented a special type of tabla that was played with a thin bamboo stick. Sardool was married to Amar Noorie, a well-known singer and actress herself and has two sons, Alaap Sikander and Sarang Sikander. Both sons are pursuing music and are set to put out their creations in the near future.
