A drone show was held at Punnami Ghat in Vijayawada, featuring more than 5,500 drones, which is set to be the largest in India. This show will include live music, fireworks, and a laser display, which set a milestone with five Guinness World Records. The summit aims to attract investments worth Rs 2,000 crore and generate Rs 6,000 crore in revenue over the next five years. Additionally, the initiative plans to train over 20,000 youth as drone pilots, creating job opportunities for at least 30,000 individuals. Ultimately, the Amaravati Drone Summit 2024 aims to foster innovation and collaboration in the rapidly evolving drone sector.

Background

The Amaravati Drone Summit 2024 is a significant event aimed at positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leading hub for drone technology in India. This initiative aligns with the state's broader goal of transforming Amaravati into the Drone City of India by fostering innovation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among various stakeholders in the drone sector. The summit is organized by the Andhra Pradesh Drone Corporation in collaboration with key organizations, including the Union Civil Aviation Department, the Drone Federation of India, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Objectives

The primary objective of the Amaravati Drone Summit is to establish a framework for the development and regulation of drone technology in Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has emphasized the importance of creating proper guidelines to facilitate the growth of the drone sector. [3] The summit will host a series of discussions and panels where industry experts and government officials will deliberate on the regulatory framework needed to support the drone industry and make India a global drone hub by 2030. Another key objective is to foster collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and private industry. The summit will feature representatives from IITs and other engineering colleges, aiming to encourage knowledge sharing and innovation. The government plans to sign two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the event, one with the Quality Council of India (QCI) to enable the state to issue Drone Remote Pilot License certificates, and another with IIT Tirupati to serve as a knowledge partner in drone education and training. The Andhra Pradesh government anticipates attracting investments worth Rs 2,000 crore and generating revenue of Rs 6,000 crore in the next five years. Over 6,900 participants have registered for the summit, including 1,711 delegates and 1,306 visitors from various educational and professional backgrounds. The summit's agenda includes discussions on critical themes such as drone regulations, disaster monitoring, logistics, and agriculture. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hack-a-thons categorized into various themes, fostering innovation and encouraging practical solutions to industry challenges. [7] The culmination of the summit is a grand drone show featuring over 5,500 drones at Punnami Ghat on October 22, the largest drone show in India. This event will include live music performances, a laser beam show, and fireworks, making it a festive occasion that highlights the technological advancements in drone capabilities. [8]

The Amaravati Drone Show achieved an impressive milestone by setting five Guinness World Records. Representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records presented certificates to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during the event. The records were awarded for achievements such as the largest planet formation, largest landmark creation, largest plane formation, largest national flag display by drones, and the largest aerial logo formation. The 2019–2024 Amaravati protests, simply known as Amaravati protests, were demonstrations in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh triggered by the idea of changing the one capital of Amaravati already identified and developed partially, to three capitals of Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. This led to concerns that the decision would create chaos and insecurity for farmers who gave their fertile agricultural lands to the government in 29 villages of Guntur district. The protests began in Mandadam, Thullur, Uddandarayunipalem on 18 December 2019. In a few days, the protests spread across Andhra Pradesh Capital Region, in Andhra Pradesh. On 17 December 2020, series of events were done to mark the protests' anniversary.
