"Ambition for Cash" is a song by American rapper Key Glock, released on October 1, 2021 as the lead single from his second studio album Yellow Tape 2 (2021). It was produced by Tay Keith and Cubeatz.

Contents

Composition

The song contains a flute instrumental with thumping 808s, [1] [2] over which Key Glock raps about his ambition to continue accumulating wealth for his family and never stop working hard. [1] He also compares himself to NBA players James Harden and Larry Bird. [2]

Music video

An official music video was released on October 7, 2021. It sees Key Glock committing a bank robbery with his associates, including Paper Route Empire signee and rapper Snupe Bandz, first posing as customers at the financial institution. [3] Masked and armed with automatic firearms, Key Glock and his crew arrive outside the building at Peachtree Street in a Chevrolet Impala convertible. They shoot into the ceiling and take the security guards and employees hostage, as a bank clerk takes them to the safe at gunpoint and empties the vault for them. In the end, they escape from the police and destroy their car by fire. [3] [4]

Acoustic version

On April 27, 2022, Key Glock released a visual of a live acoustic performance, which shows him performing the song on Doyers Street in Chinatown, Manhattan as he is backed by seven flute players. [5] [6]

"Cash Shit" is a song by American rapper Megan Thee Stallion, featuring vocals from American rapper DaBaby. It was released on May 17, 2019, as the third single off of Megan Thee Stallion's first commercial mixtape, Fever. The track would later peak at number one on Urban radio in the United States, as well as number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100. This song was later featured in the fictional iFruit Radio in Grand Theft Auto V.

The cousin of slain fellow Memphis rapper Young Dolph, Cathey signed with his record label, Paper Route Empire to release his commercial mixtape Glock Season (2017). His debut studio album, Yellow Tape (2020) peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200 and received gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). His second album, Yellow Tape 2 (2021) peaked at number seven on the chart and spawned the platinum-certified single "Ambition for Cash", as well as "Proud", which was released in the wake of Dolph's death and marked his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. His third album, Glockoma 2 (2023) spawned the sleeper hit single "Let's Go"—his second entry on the chart.

"For the Night" is a song by American rapper Pop Smoke featuring fellow American rappers Lil Baby and DaBaby, from the former's posthumous debut studio album, Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon (2020) as well as the EP of the same name (2020). It was written by the artists, producers CashMoneyAP and Palaze, and additional producer Mike Dean, with more additional production credits going to Wylo and Jess Jackson.
