Amin Alhassan is a Ghanaian academic, journalist and public servant. He is the incumbent and seventeenth Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation. He succeeded Kwame Akuffo Anoff-Ntow on the role on 1 October 2019.
Alhassan was born and raised in Tamale even though his parents hail from Savelugu.
He had his early education at the Tishigu Anglican Primary School, and later the Tishigu Anglican Middle School in Tishigu, a suburb of Tamale. He had his secondary education at Navrongo Senior High School for his Ordinary Level Certificate (O-Level), and Tamale Senior High School for his Advanced Level Certificate (A-Level). He then proceeded to the Ghana Institute of Journalism for his tertiary education. [1] He obtained his post graduate degrees from Concordia University and the University of Tampere. [1] [2]
After graduating from the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Alhassan joined the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation's GBC Radio News, and the Ghana News Agency. [1] Following his postgraduate studies, he began as a lecturer at McGill University in 2003. [2] In 2004 he joined York University in Toronto as an associate professor at the department of Communication Studies. [2] [3] He later joined the University for Development Studies in 2012, and became the founding dean of the Faculty of Agribusiness and Communication Sciences. [2] [4] He served as the Principal for the Wa campus in 2018, and in October 2019 he was appointed Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation. [2] [3] [4]
In 2021 he was awarded the Most People Focused CEO award during the Human Resource Excellence Awards. [1]
Tamale, officially called Tamale Metropolitan Area is the capital city of the Northern Region of Ghana. Tamale is Ghana's third largest city. It has a projected population of 950,124 according to the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly Official Website. It is the fastest-growing city in West Africa. It is located 600 km (370 mi) north of Accra. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah is a Ghanaian politician who was Minister for Trade and Industry from 2014 to 2017 in the Mahama administration. He was formerly Minister of Communications, Minister of Education and Acting Minister of Mines & Energy in the Rawlings administration. The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) was established by law in 1968 with a triple mandate as a State Broadcaster, Public Service Broadcaster, and a Commercial Broadcaster in Ghana. Headquartered in the capital city, Accra, it is funded by grants, broadcasting television commercials and the levying of a television licence, costing 36 cedis and 60 cedis for one or more TV sets in the same house every year. TV set repairers and sales outlets are to pay an annual sum of between 60 cedis to 240 cedis.
Joseph Bawa Akamba is a Ghanaian judge, who served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana from 2012 to 2016. He was sworn into office by the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama in the presence of the Chief Justice of Ghana, Georgina Theodora Wood in November 2012. He retired from the Supreme Court in 2016. He had served a total of about 40 years in the Ghanaian Judicial Service. In 1994, he also served as Director of Public Prosecutions in The Gambia.
Francisca Ashietey-Odunton is a Ghanaian journalist, broadcaster and diplomat. She was formerly the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and currently Ghana's high commissioner to Kenya.

Joachim Awuley Lartey, aka 'Over To You' Joe Lartey, is a retired Ghanaian commentator and journalist. He worked with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation from 1961 to 1973 and 1990, and with Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria between 1978 and 1990. Lartey was ranked amongst the top five African football commentators by Goal, an international association football news website.
Alhassan Andani is a Ghanaian economist and grandson of Naa Andani who ruled Dagbon in the colonial era. He serves as the current chief executive director of Stanbic bank. He holds the position of Chairman of Council for Scientific & Industrial Research, Chairman of SOS Children's Villages Ghana and serves on the board of Gold Fields Limited. Alhassan Andani is Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company. Mr Andani is currently CEO and executive director of Stanbic Bank Ghana; the Board Chairperson of the Ghana Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), a director of SOS Villages Ghana, and has held other corporate directorships in the past. He holds BSc (Agriculture), University of Ghana; MA, Finafrica Institute in Italy.
David Kwasi Anaglate was a Ghanaian journalist, lawyer and public servant. He was the Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) from 1992 to 1995, and Ghana's ambassador to Togo from 1996 to 2001. He is the Chairman of the Ghana Association of past Broadcasters of GBC (GASBROAD), and head of the Anaglate family.
Kwame Karikari is a Ghanaian academic and journalist. He is a professor of Journalism and Mass Communication. He was the Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation from 1982 to 1984. He currently serves as Chairman of the Graphic Communications Group Limited.
George Aryee is a Ghanaian public servant. He served as the Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation from 1991 to 1992.

Tamale Senior High School formerly Government Secondary School, Tamale, Gbewaa Secondary School, and more recently Tamale Secondary School is a co-educational second cycle boarding school located at Education Ridge, a suburb of the Sagnarigu Municipality in the Northern Region of Ghana.
