Amin Dhillon is a Canadian on-air host, producer, podcaster, and emcee. [1] She is a former Miss India Worldwide Canada.

Early life

Amin Dhillon was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to an immigrant family from Punjab, India. At the age of 3, Dhillon lost her father to cancer and since then has hosted various fundraising events in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. [2] [3] She graduated from the University of Manitoba, with a degree in commerce. [4]

Career

Prior to her media career, Dhillon was a former beauty queen becoming the first woman from Winnipeg to win the title of Miss India Worldwide Canada. [5] She represented Canada at the Miss India Worldwide pageant, placing TOP 10 overall. [6]

As of 2011, she is the entertainment and news reporter of the Asian Television Network (ATN). [7] [8] Dhillon spent a decade covering national news and events for Canada's Indo-Canadian community.

She is also one of Canada's leading emcees for various cultural and community events [9] [10] Some of the high-profile events Dhillon has hosted include Markham South Asian Festival, Indo-Canadian Awards, Miss India Worldwide Canada pageant, Miss India Carrassauga pageant, Canada's largest India Day celebrations at Nathan Phillips Square and at Yonge and Dundas Square, Pam Am Games Globalfest, Mosaic Festival, Bollywood Monster Mashup, Vibrant Brampton, Diwali Gala, Global Gujarati Awards, Festival of South Asia, and the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce Awards. In 2019, Dhillon launched her own podcast and digital series "In Conversation with Amin Dhillon". With a focus on promoting diversity and inclusion, the podcast has featured politicians, newsmakers, artists, and entrepreneurs with inspirational stories of success and achievement. [14] [15]

In April 2021, Dhillon announced she would be seeking the federal Liberal nomination in Brampton Centre. [16]

Heaven on Earth a.k.a. Videsh is a 2008 Canadian film directed and written by Deepa Mehta. Miss Pakistan World is a beauty pageant for women of Pakistani descent from around the world. The event used to be held in Toronto, Canada but has moved to Pakistan and is held annually in Lahore, Pakistan.

Miss World 2013, the 63rd edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 28 September 2013 at Bali International Convention Center, South Kuta, Bali, Indonesia. It was the first time in Southeast Asia and it also was the first time in the pageant's history that the event was held in a Muslim majority country. Contestants from 127 countries and territories competed in this year's Miss World pageant, marking the biggest turnout for any beauty pageant globally as of 2024. Yu Wenxia of China crowned her successor Megan Young of the Philippines at the end of the event, marking the only time to date that the Philippines has won the Miss World title. This victory also made the Philippines the third country to win all of the Big Four international beauty pageants.

The 50th edition of Femina Miss India was held at Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai, on March 24, 2013. The show was telecast live on Colors. A total of 23 contestants competed in the beauty pageant. Navneet Kaur Dhillon of Punjab was crowned Femina Miss India World 2013 by the outgoing titleholder Vanya Mishra. Sobhita Dhulipala and Zoya Afroz were crowned the 1st and 2nd Runners Up respectively.

The 51st edition of the Femina Miss India beauty pageant was held on April 5, 2014 in Mumbai, India. Finalists had been selected in a previous round held in Bangalore in January 2014, with 24 women competing for the title of Miss India World. Koyal Rana from Delhi was crowned Femina Miss India 2014 by the previous year's winner Navneet Kaur Dhillon, while Jhataleka Malhotra and Gail Nicole Da Silva were crowned 1st and 2nd Runners Up respectively.

Miss India Worldwide 2010 was the 19th edition of the international beauty pageant. The final was held in Durban, South Africa on March 27, 2010. About 24 countries were represented in the pageant. Kajal Lutchminarain of South Africa was crowned as the winner at the end of the event.

Miss India Worldwide 2000 was the tenth edition of the international beauty pageant. The final was held in Tampa, Florida, United States on November 25, 2000. About 16 countries were represented in the pageant. Ritu Upadhyay of the United States was crowned as the winner at the end of the event.

Miss India Worldwide 2012 was the 21st edition of the international beauty pageant. The final was held in Paramaribo, Suriname on February 25, 2012. About 35 countries were represented in the pageant. Alana Seebarran of Guyana was crowned as the winner at the end of the event.

Miss India Worldwide is a beauty pageant which draws contestants from India and from among members of the Indian diaspora residing in other countries. It is conducted by India Festival Committee (IFC), first founded and headed by Dharmatma Saran in New York City, USA.
