Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo (born 6 November 1960) is a Nigerian politician who is currently serving as the deputy governor of Kano State. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Early life and education

Gwarzo was born on 6 November 1960, in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State. He attended Gwarzo Primary School from 1966 to 1972, and also from 1972 to 1977. He obtained National Diploma and Higher National Diploma from Kano State Polytechnic, he also attended Bayero University, Kano from 2007 to 2008 for Postgraduate Diploma in Public Policy and Administration.

Career

Gwarzo began his career as a classroom teacher in 1977, he became head master in 1981.

He became a revenue officer after obtaining a National Diploma in Banking and Finance and Higher National Diploma in Accountancy in 1988. He served for 6 years and joined politics becoming Gwarzo local government chairman in 1996.

Political career

Gwarzo became the deputy governor-elect of Kano State in March 2023, under the platform of New Nigeria Peoples Party, with Abba Kabir Yusuf as governor-elect. [5] [6] [7] [8] Yusuf retained Gwarzo as his running mate since the 2019 election. [9] [10]

Gwarzo was the Commissioner for State Affairs, from 2011 to 2015 under Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso. [11]

He was chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Area in 1996 and from 1999 to 2003 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Rabiu Kwankwaso was governor of the State.

Aminu Sule Garo is a Nigerian politician and businessman. He was elected Senator for Kano North in April 2007, but his election was annulled in December 2007 on the basis that he lacked the required qualifications.

Bello Hayatu Gwarzo is a Nigerian politician who was a member of the Nigerian Senate from 1999 to 2015. He was the Senate Chief Whip from 2011 to 2015.

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is a Nigerian lawyer and politician who has served as Senator for Sokoto South since 2023. He served as the governor of Sokoto State from 2015 to 2023. He is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, and served as the 12th Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria from 2011 to 2015.

Engineer Magaji Abdullahi was a Nigerian politician. He was the deputy governor of Kano State between 2003 and 2007. The 2011 Kano State gubernatorial election occurred on April 26, 2011. PDP candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso won the election, defeating ANPP Salihu Sagir Takai and 12 other candidates.

The 2015 Kano State gubernatorial election occurred on April 11, 2015. APC candidate Abdullahi Umar Ganduje won the election, defeating PDP Salihu Sagir Takai and other candidates.

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. The 2015 Nigerian Senate election in Kano State was held on March 28, 2015, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Kano State. Barau I Jibrin representing Kano North, Rabiu Kwankwaso representing Kano Central and Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya representing Kano South all won on the platform of All Progressives Congress.

Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
