Amit Russell Gicelter is an Oscar-nominated [1] animation producer from Israel, founder of The Hive Studio, an Israeli animation studio based in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Sderot. [2] He is mostly known for producing the animated series The Fenestas (2023) and Summer Memories (2022), and the award-winning films Black Slide (2021) and Letter to a Pig (2022), winner of the Ophir Award at the Israel Academy Awards. [3]

Career

Gicelter studied at the University of Westminster (London, England), where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Film & Animation in 2007. [4] After graduation, Gicelter pursued a career as a freelance producer for advertising agencies in the UK, before returning to Israel, [2] where he founded the Tel Aviv-based animation studio The Hive Studio in 2010. [5]

Gicelter has been involved in several initiatives to promote and support the development of the animation industry in Israel. [6] In 2021, he signed the first ever co-production agreement between the United Emirates and Israel, on the animated series Crab & Cake. [7] He also served as an associate producer on the first ever serial co-production between Israel and Canada, Summer Memories (2022) [8] In 2022, he initiated the West Negev Animation (WNA) initiative, to encourage animation production services in the south of Israel. In 2022, Gicelter was shortlisted to the 95th Academy Awards [18] and nominated to the Annie Awards for the short film Black Slide (2021). [19] [20]

In 2022, he won the Ophir Award at the Israel Academy Awards [3] [21] and was nominated for the 96th Academy Awards on the 23rd of January 2024 with the short film Letter to a Pig (2022). [1]

Ofir Raul Graizer is an Israeli film director, screenwriter, producer and editor. Graizer was born in Israel. He lives in Berlin. He is best known for his feature film debut, The Cakemaker. It was the Israeli submission for the Academy Award in 2019, won seven Ophir Awards in 2018 at the Israeli Academy, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Script and Best Actress. Graizer published a book of short stories and recipes, Ofirs Kuche, in Germany in November 2018. He lives between Israel, Germany and the United States, and works internationally. The movie, inspired by Graizer's own experiences and those of a friend, is a love story and includes issues surrounding being gay. Graizer is himself gay.

Eden Auerbach Ofrat is an Israeli video-art and video installation artist. In her work, Auerbach Ofrat deals with cultural archetypes, canonical or imaginary symbols, contradictory and complementary existential poles, relying on literary and mythical sources. Her work is done either through playing with given mythological elements and symbols or by creating “private” myths. Eden has won an Sharett scholarship from the America-Israel Foundation and the “Young Artist Award” by the Israeli Ministry of Culture, Education, and Sports.

<i>Letter to a Pig</i> 2022 Israeli-French animated short film

Letter to a Pig is a 2022 Oscar-nominated short film directed by Tal Kantor. The 17-minute animated film about generational trauma has been awarded in various international film festivals, including the Jerusalem Film Festival, the Ottawa International Animation Festival, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and the Chicago International Children's Film Festival.

Tal Kantor is an award-winning animation filmmaker & visual artist, and a lecturer in the Screen-based Arts Department at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. She is mostly known for her graduation short film In Other Words and for her debut short film Letter to a Pig (2022), winner of several awards including the Grand Prix in Anima Brussels and the Ophir Award at the Israel Academy Awards.

Brad Booker is an American producer and animator, founder of the American animation studio ElectroLeague. Booker is best known for The Iron Giant (1999), The Book of Life (2014) and the animated short film WAR IS OVER! Inspired by the Music of John and Ono (2023), which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at 96th Academy Awards on January 23rd 2024.
