Air Marshal Amit Tiwari, PVSM, AVSM, VM is a retired officer of the Indian Air Force. He served as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Central Air Command. He assumed the office on 1 February 2021 succeeding Air Marshal Rajesh Kumar and served till 31 May 2021. He is succeeded by Air Marshal Richard John Duckworth.^[2]^[3]^[4] Previously, he served as AOC-in-C of Southern Air Command.^[5]^[6]

Early life and education

Amit is an alumnus of National Defence Academy. He is also a graduate of Defence Services Staff College, College of Defence Management and National Defence College.^[7]

Career

Amit was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot in June 1982. He is a qualified flight instructor, and has a flying experience of over 3500 hours on various fighter aircraft.^[7]

In his career, he has held several positions including team leader of Surya Kiran aerobatic squadron, station commander of a forward base, air attache at Indian embassy in Afghanistan, as well as air defence commander and senior officer-in-charge of administration at an operational command. His other appointments include assistant chief of air staff (training) at air headquarters and commandant air force academy.^[6]

Prior to his appointment as AOC-in-C, Southern Air command, Amit served as Air Officer in charge of Personnel at air headquarters, VayuSena Bhawan in New Delhi.^[8]^[6]

Honours and decorations

During his career, Amit has been awarded the VayuSena Medal (VM) and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and the Param Vishisht Seva Medal in 2021 for his service.^[1]^[9]

Personal life

Amit is married to Poonam Tiwari.^[7]

Air Marshal Shirish Baban Deo, PVSM, AVSM, VM, VSM, ADC was the Vice Chief of the Air Staff (VCAS) of the Indian Air Force. He assumed the office of Vice Chief on 31 December 2016 from Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa and served in the same capacity till his retirement on 30 September 2018.

Air Marshal Chandrashekharan Hari Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, VM, VSM, ADC is a retired officer of the Indian Air Force. He served as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Western Air Command from 1 January 2017 to 28 February 2019. He assumed the office from Air Marshal Shirish Baban Deo and was succeeded by Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar.

Air Marshal Anil Khosla, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC is a retired Indian air force officer who served as 42nd Vice Chief of the Air Staff (VCAS) of the Indian Air Force. He assumed the office on 1 October 2018 and handed over on 30 April 2019.

Air Marshal Balakrishnan Suresh PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC is a retired officer of the Indian Air Force. He served as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Western Air Command from 1 November 2019 following superannuation of Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar, till the day of his retirement on 31 July 2020.

Air Marshal Harjit Singh Arora PVSM, AVSM, ADC was an officer of the Indian Air Force and served as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff from 1 October 2019 to 30 June 2021. He was succeeded by Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari.

Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar, PVSM, AVSM, VM & Bar is a retired officer of the Indian Air Force. He served as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Western Air Command from 1 March 2019 to 31 October 2019.

He assumed office on 31 January 2021 following the retirement of Air Marshal Navkaranjit Singh Dhillon. Previously he served as AOC-in-C in Central Air Command and SASO in Eastern Air Command. He superannuated on 31 August 2021.

Air Marshal Arvindra Singh Butola, PVSM, VM, VSM is a retired officer of the Indian Air Force. He was the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Training Command, and assumed office on 14 October 2019 succeeding Air Marshal Surendra Kumar Ghotia. Air Marshal AS Butola superannuated on 30 September 2020.

Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari, AVSM, VM is an officer of the Indian Air Force. He is currently serving as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), South Western Air Command. He assumed the office on 1 May 2023 succeeding Air Marshal Vikram Singh.

Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, AVSM, VM, VSM is a serving officer of the Indian Air Force. He is currently serving as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Air Command. He assumed the post upon superannuation of Air Marshal Ravi Gopal Krishana Kapoor. He was previously serving as the 47th Deputy Chief of the Air Staff, prior to that he served as the Senior Air Staff Officer, South Western Air Command.
