The authors of The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings called the album "a fine, sometimes boisterous and always good-natured encounter," and noted that "Coxon's guitar has acquired a distinctiveness... and he leads most of these... improvs." [4]
Ivana Ng of All About Jazz described the album as "austere and effortless," and praised Bennink's "ineffable charisma and brilliant drumming." She wrote: "Bennink brings a jazz sensibility to Coxon and Wales' electronic musings. As Wales' ambient sounds writhe in time with Coxon's guitar, Bennink's drum kit undulates from low to high, soft to loud, slow to fast, crouching to pouncing." [5]
Dusted Magazine's John Eyles stated: "In typical fashion, Bennink grabs the music by the scruff of the neck and completely dominates proceedings. The album title is no idle promise; the music bursts with energy... His energy seems to spur on Coxon & Wales, who give as energized a performance as I can recall. This, in turn, drives Bennink on. Writing for Eartrip Magazine, Seth Watter remarked: "What I find so remarkable about groups like this is the way that each instrument blends into its peers, no matter how disparate they are in sound... The three create a music that is unpredictable, yet deliberate and logical in its own way... Amplified Trio is the beauty of a voice arrested midflight. Let's stop and take a look at that one again." Derek Bailey was an English avant-garde guitarist and an important figure in the free improvisation movement. Bailey abandoned conventional performance techniques found in jazz, exploring atonality, noise, and whatever unusual sounds he could produce with the guitar. Much of his work was released on his own label Incus Records. In addition to solo work, Bailey collaborated frequently with other musicians and recorded with collectives such as Spontaneous Music Ensemble and Company.
John Scofield is an American guitarist and composer whose music over a long career has blended jazz, jazz fusion, funk, blues, soul and rock. He first came to mainstream attention in the band of Miles Davis, and has toured and recorded with many prominent jazz artists, including saxophonists Eddie Harris, Dave Liebman, Joe Henderson and Joe Lovano; keyboardists George Duke, Joey DeFrancesco, Herbie Hancock, Larry Goldings and Robert Glasper; fellow guitarists Pat Metheny, John Abercrombie, Pat Martino and Bill Frisell; bassists Marc Johnson and Jaco Pastorius; and drummers Billy Cobham and Dennis Chambers. Fuck de Boere: Dedicated to Johnny Dyani is a live album by saxophonist Peter Brötzmann containing two tracks recorded at the Frankfurt Jazz Festival in Frankfurt, Germany. Track one, "Machine Gun," was recorded on March 24, 1968, several months before the studio recording that resulted in the album of the same name, and features Brötzmann with saxophonists Willem Breuker, Gerd Dudek, and Evan Parker, pianist Fred Van Hove, bassists Buschi Niebergall and Peter Kowald, and drummers Han Bennink and Sven-Åke Johansson. On track two, the title track, recorded on March 22, 1970, Brötzmann is joined by Breuker and Parker on saxophone, Niebergall, Malcolm Griffiths, Paul Rutherford, and Willem Van Manen on trombone, Van Hove on piano and organ, Derek Bailey on guitar, and Bennink on drums. The album was released in 2001 by Atavistic Records as part of their Unheard Music Series. The album is dedicated to South African bassist Johnny Dyani, who, according to Brötzmann, frequently shouted "Fuck de boere!" when discussing life under apartheid.

It was recorded on February 26, 1979, at the Akademie der Kunste in Berlin, and was initially released on vinyl later that year by the FMP label. In 2000, FMP reissued the album on CD, with previously unreleased tracks, under the title 3 Points and a Mountain... Plus, and, in 2022, it was reissued on vinyl by the Cien Fuegos imprint of Trost Records.
A Birthday Tribute: 75 years is a live album by percussionist Tony Oxley released in celebration of his seventy-fifth birthday. The album begins with two quartet tracks recorded during 1993, on which Oxley is joined by guitarist Derek Bailey, keyboardist Pat Thomas, and electronic musician Matt Wand. The remaining three tracks were recorded during 1977, and feature Oxley in a duo with trombonist Paul Rutherford, a trio with violinist Philipp Wachsmann and guitarist Ian Brighton, and a solo percussion work with electronics. On the album, Bennink is featured on drums, tablas, trombone, clarinet, rhythm machine, and "anything/everything."
Jazz Bunker is a live double album by Han Bennink, Eugene Chadbourne, and Toshinori Kondo. Featuring a wide variety of instrumentation, it was recorded during February 1980 at the Jazz Bunker in Rotterdam, Holland, and was not released until 2000, when it was issued on CD by Golden Years of New Jazz, an imprint of Leo Records.
