Ana Carolina Aguilera (born May 27, 1981) is an Argentine former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. [1] Aguilera competed only in the women's 200 m butterfly at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. She achieved a FINA B-cut of 2:18.42 from the Argentina National Championships in Buenos Aires. [2] She participated in heat one against three other swimmers Chan Wing Suet of Hong Kong, Tinka Dančević of Croatia, and Hana Majaj of Jordan. Entering the race with the fastest-seeded time, she managed to pull off a third-place effort in 2:21.23, but finished behind leader Chan by 1.37 seconds. Aguilera failed to advance into the semifinals, as she placed thirty-fifth overall in the prelims. [3] [4] [5]
Marina Vladimirovna Mulyayeva is a Kazakh former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle and individual medley events. She is a six-time national record holder, a multiple-time ACC titleholder, and a one-time NCAA Honorable Mention All-American swimmer. Mulyayeva is also a varsity swimmer for the Maryland Terrapins and an international business major at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.
Petra Zahrl is an Austrian former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and butterfly events. Since 2009, she currently holds four Austrian records in the freestyle and medley relays. She also claimed a bronze medal in the 200 m butterfly (2:09.29) at the 2000 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Valencia, Spain.
Raquel Maria Reis Felgueiras is a Portuguese former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. She is a two-time Olympian, and holds multiple age-group records in 200 and 400 m freestyle, and in 50, 100, and 200 m butterfly. Regarded as one of Macedonia's top swimmers, Stojanovska has earned All-American honors and numerous Atlantic Coast Conference titles in her own discipline while studying in the United States.
Pilin Tachakittiranan is a Thai former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and butterfly events. She is a two-time Olympian and a multiple-time age-group record holder in all freestyle distances. Regarded as Thailand's top female swimmer, she has won a total of five gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games.
Heather Claire Roffey is a Caymanian former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle and butterfly events. She became one of the first swimmers, and the first female, in history to represent the Cayman Islands in swimming at the Summer Olympics at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, along with Shaune Fraser and Andrew Mackay.
Sandy Chan Wing-suet is a Hong Kong former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. She is a two-time Olympian and a double finalist at the Asian Games (2002).
Mei Yen “Christel” Bouvron is a Singaporean former swimmer, who specialised in freestyle and butterfly events. She is a two-time Olympian, a double finalist at the Asian Games (2002), and a gold medalist in the 200 m butterfly at the Southeast Asian Games (2003). Bouvron also became the first swimmer to qualify for the Olympics since 1920, while training for the Fighting Irish, and majoring in anthropology and classics at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
Kolbrún Ýr Kristjánsdóttir is a retired Icelandic swimmer, who specialized in backstroke and butterfly events. She is a two-time Olympian, and former Icelandic record holder in the same strokes.
Tseng Cheng-hua is a Taiwanese former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. He is a single-time Olympian (2000), and a top 8 finalist in both 100 and 200 m butterfly at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea.
Walter Dario Arciprete is an Argentine former swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke and in individual medley events. He represented Argentina at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and achieved numerous Argentine titles and records from the national championships, including his 50 m breaststroke standard (27.81) that stood for more than a decade.
Lin Chi-chan is a Taiwanese former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle but also competed in backstroke. She represented Chinese Taipei in two editions of the Olympic Games, and later earned two medals each in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay (3:51.42), and 4 × 200 m freestyle relay (8:18.92) at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
Jana Korbasová is a Slovak former swimmer, who specialized in backstroke and in individual medley events. She represented Slovakia at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and later became a sixth-place finalist in the 200 m backstroke (2:12.81) at the European Short Course Championships in Valencia, Spain on that same year. Since her retirement came in 2001, Korbasova currently serves as the acting head coach for Howick Pakuranga Swim Club in New Zealand. She has competed in several New Zealand Ironman in Taupo achieving the fastest swim time for women in the non professional division. She won the 2018 New Zealand Coach of the Year.
Lee Bo-Eun is a South Korean former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and butterfly events. She represented South Korea in two editions of the Olympic Games, and also earned bronze medals in the medley relay at the Asian Games.
Praphalsai "Waen" Minpraphal is a Thai former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly, but also competed in backstroke and individual medley. She represented Thailand in all three editions of the Olympic Games since 1992, and earned numerous medals in her own specialties at the Southeast Asian Games since 1991. While residing in the United States on her college career, she helped the California Golden Bears set a new world record (1:49.23) and capture the 4×50 m medley title at the 2000 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Minpraphal is among the Asian swimmers, along with Joscelin Yeo of Singapore and Akiko Thomson of the Philippines, to train for the Bears under women's head coach Teri McKeever.
Hsieh Shu-tzu is a Taiwanese former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly and individual medley events. She represented Chinese Taipei in two editions of the Olympic Games, and later captured a silver in the 200 m butterfly at the 2000 Asian Swimming Championships in Busan, South Korea.
Zhanna Yevhenivna Lozumyrska is a Ukrainian former swimmer, who specialized in middle-distance freestyle and butterfly events. Lozumyrska competed for Ukraine in two swimming events at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. She achieved a FINA B-cut of 2:14.14 from the European Championships in Helsinki, Finland. On the fourth day of the Games, Lozumyrska placed twenty-fourth in the 200 m butterfly. Swimming in heat two, she faded down the stretch from third at the halfway turn to pick up a fourth seed in 2:14.47, about a third of a second (0.33) outside her entry standard. The following day, in the 4×200 m freestyle relay, Lozumyrska and her teammates Olena Lapunova, Nadiya Beshevli, and Albina Bordunova were disqualified from heat one in the prelims for an early launch on the lead-off leg.
Hana Majaj is a Jordanian former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. She represented Jordan at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and also trained for the BYU Cougars swimming and diving team at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
María Virginia Garrone is an Argentine former swimmer, who specialized in individual medley events. She is a 2000 Olympian and a fifteen-time Argentine national champion in a medley double. During her sporting career, she trained for the swim team at Club Atletico de Córdoba under her longtime coach and mentor Daniel Garimaldi.
Alexandra Zertsalova is a Kyrgyz former swimmer, who specialized in individual medley events. Zertsalova competed in a medley double at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. She achieved FINA B-standards of 2:23.30 and 4:59.24 from the Russian Open Championships in Saint Petersburg. On the first day of the Games, Zertsalova placed twenty-seventh in the 400 m individual medley. Swimming in heat one, she raced to the third seed by more than ten seconds behind Argentina's Georgina Bardach and Slovakia's Jana Korbasová in 5:09.03. Two days later, in the 200 m individual medley, Zertsalova posted a second-place time of 2:24.09 in the same heat, but finished in thirty-second place among 36 other swimmers from the prelims.
