Early life and education

Anamero Sunday Dekeri was born in the village of Ogute-Oke, Okpella, Edo State, Nigeria. His family worked as pastoral farmers. Dekeri obtained his First School Leaving Certificate from Ugbedudu Primary School and his Secondary School Certificate from Ogute-Oke Secondary School. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Law degree from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. He is also an Alumnus Nigeria Police College, Ikeja.[ citation needed ]

Career

While pursuing his education, Dekeri sold palm produce to Eastern Nigerian merchants. This venture led him to travel to Ibadan to secure contracts with companies seeking palm products as raw materials. He established Danco International Group, a multinational company, and its subsidiary, Gulf Treasure Ltd. [1]

Dekeri established the Anamero Idofe Anamero Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting the poor and needy. He has also made significant contributions to his local community, including building classrooms and staff offices for schools in Ogute-Oke and Itu Rogbe. Amongst other contributions is an ongoing Anamero School Support program that has run for 13 years. This Support program covers distribution of school materials as well as schorlaships to students. [2] The foundation also runs a free summer school program for students. Dekeri recently expanded this program to cover 10,000 students across the Edo State. [3] [4] The Foundation distributed 500,000 books in Edo State and awarded bursary to some students at the University of Benin. [5] [6] The Anamero Foundation has provided Borehole Facilities, rural electrification, Road Construction and rehabilitation projects across his community. Other projects embarked upon by the Anamero Idofe Anamero Foundation includes the donation of wheel chairs to people with disability. [7]

Recognition and awards

Politics

Dekeri entered the political arena in 2019 and was elected to represent the Etsako Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC) party. He has sponsored a Bill for the Establishment of Federal Medical Center, Uluoke, Edo State, [9] [10] and a bill for the Establishment of Federal College of Technical Education, Okpella Edo state. [9]

In 2023, Dekeri declared his candidacy for the governorship of Edo State, [11] [12] again under the APC banner. His campaign platform emphasizes education, health, agriculture and food security, infrastructural development and industrialization. [13]

Afemai people occupy six local government areas of Edo state: Etsako West, with headquarters in Auchi, Etsako Central, with the headquarters in Fugar, Etsako East, with the headquarters in Agenebode, Owan East with Afuze as the headquarters, Owan West with Sabongida-Ora as the headquarters and Akoko Edo,Igara being the headquarters. These make up the Edo-North Senatorial District.

The Etsakọ people are the majority ethnic group in the northern region of Edo State, Nigeria. They are historically linked to the ancient Benin kingdom. Administratively, they presently occupy three local government areas of Edo State. These are: Etsako East, Etsako West and Etsako Central, with Agenebode, Auchi, and Fugar as their administrative headquarters respectively.

Okpella is a clan situated along Benin-Abuja federal high way. Going by the last National Census figures, it has the population of 500,000, and is one of the three main towns that make up Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State. It is made up of two sub-clans, each with their villages; Ogute sub-clan, which is made up of Ogute-Oke, Awuyemi, Imiekuri and Imiegeli villages, and Oteku sub-clan, comprising Komunio and Iddo. The language spoken in the clan is Okpella, a dialect of Bini which has evolved. Okpella is known for its natural sedimentary rock based mineral resources, which include limestone, calcium, and granite, feldspar, talc, clay, marble, and it plays host to the defunct Bendel Cement Factory, BUA Cement Factory and Dangote Cement Factory.

Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke ; 15 January 1955 – 23 April 2017) was a Nigerian politician, he was a two time senator who represented Osun West from 2007 to 2011 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was elected again under the banner of the All Progressives Congress in 2015. He ran for re-election in April 2011 on the PDP platform, coming second with 77,090 votes behind the eventual winner Mudasiru Oyetunde Hussein of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) who polled 121,971 votes.

Akoko Edo is a Local Government Area in Edo State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is in the town of Igarra. It has an area of 1,371 km2 and a population of 262,110 at the 2006 census. The earliest settlers of Akoko Edo were the Benins who would have been there the same period the Etsako people moved from Benin during the reign of Oba Ozolua (1483-1504). Other migrating people, due to the fortunes of time, came into the area. Of the Igbirra and Idah from the North and East, the war which Oba Esigie fought in 1515-1516 with the Attah of Idah would have brought a lot of migration into the area.

Etsako Central is one of the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is in the town of Fugar. It is represented in the Edo state house of assembly by Hon. Ahmed Waziri Oshiomah of the APC

The 2023 Nigerian House of Representatives elections were held on 25 February 2023 where voters elected members of the House of Representatives using first-past-the-post voting in all 360 federal constituencies. The last regular House elections for all districts were in 2019.

The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Edo State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Edo State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.

Patrick Aisowieren is a Nigerian politician who has served as a representative of the Orhionmwon/Uhumwonde constituency in the House of Representatives of Nigeria during both the 8th and 9th National Assembly. His political career began in 2003 when he was elected as a Councillor in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State. He then went on to serve as a member of the Edo State House of Assembly representing Orhionmwon East Constituency in 2007 and 2011, respectively. He is commonly referred to as "Project Master."

The Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode Foundation is a non-profit humanitarian organisation that promote human empowerment and eliminating poverty, promoting gender equality, social justice, leadership development, and literacy through initiatives such as entrepreneurship, educational support, financial assistance, healthcare support, and monetary aid to individuals in need. The foundation was established in March 2023 by Muhydeen Okunola Kayode to give back to his local community through charitable organisations to enhance positive change and improve the well-being of those who are facing challenging circumstances and there office is based in Offa local Government Kwara State.
