Anand Sivasubramaniam is Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University. He is well known for his work in computer architecture, computer systems, data centers and computer systems power management. [1]

Education

Anand did his schooling at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, Nungambakkam, Chennai. He graduated All India 1st in the All India Senior School Certificate Examination in 1985.

Anand completed his BTech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 1989 and earned his PhD from Georgia Tech in 1995 with Umakishore Ramachandran as his doctoral adviser. He has been faculty at Penn State since 1995. [2]

Awards and honors

Anand received the NSF CAREER award in 1997. He received the Penn State Department of Computer Science and Engineering Faculty Teaching award in 2003. He has received multiple IBM Faculty Research awards, Google Research awards and an HP innovation award. He was awarded the IEEE fellow in 2012 “for contributions to power management of storage systems and high performance computer systems” and the ACM Fellow in 2017 "for contributions to power management of datacenters and high-end computer systems". Pramod P. Khargonekar is the Vice Chancellor for Research and Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine. An expert in control systems engineering, Dr. Khargonekar has served in a variety of administrative roles in academia and federal funding agencies. Most recently, he served as Assistant Director for Engineering at the National Science Foundation (2013-2016), and as Deputy Director for Technology at the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy. From 2001 through 2009 he was the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Florida.

David Ethan Culler is a computer scientist and former chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. He is a principal investigator in the Software Defined Buildings (SDB) project at the EECS Department at Berkeley and the faculty director of the i4Energy Center. His research addresses networks of small, embedded wireless devices, planetary-scale internet services, parallel computer architecture, parallel programming languages, and high performance communication. Oyekunle Ayinde "Kunle" Olukotun is a British-born Nigerian computer scientist who is the Cadence Design Systems Professor of the Stanford School of Engineering, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Stanford University and the director of the Stanford Pervasive Parallelism Lab. Olukotun is known as the “father of the multi-core processor”, and the leader of the Stanford Hydra Chip Multiprocessor research project. Olukotun's achievements include designing the first general-purpose multi-core CPU, innovating single-chip multiprocessor and multi-threaded processor design, and pioneering multicore CPUs and GPUs, transactional memory technology and domain-specific languages programming models. Saraju Mohanty is an Indian-American professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and the director of the Smart Electronic Systems Laboratory, at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Mohanty received a Glorious India Award – Rich and Famous NRIs of America in 2017 for his contributions to the discipline. Mohanty is a researcher in the areas of "smart electronics for smart cities/villages", "smart healthcare", "application-Specific things for efficient edge computing", and "methodologies for digital and mixed-signal hardware". He has made significant research contributions to security by design (SbD) for electronic systems, hardware-assisted security (HAS) and protection, high-level synthesis of digital signal processing (DSP) hardware, and mixed-signal integrated circuit computer-aided design and electronic design automation. Mohanty has been the editor-in-chief (EiC) of the IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine during 2016-2021. He was a William L. Weiss Professor of Information and Communications Technology in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the director of the Institute for Networking and Security Research at the Pennsylvania State University. He has made several contributions in the areas of computer security, operating systems, and computer networks. McDaniel is best known for his work in mobile security as well as in electronic voting security, digital piracy prevention, and cellular networks. In recognition of his contributions and service to the scientific community, he was named IEEE Fellow and ACM Fellow. He is the pioneer in audio video coding technologies and standards in China, and has served on the faculty of different universities for over 37 years.
