Aviation facilities771 and 772 each have a helicopter decks but without any hangars. 773 comes with a helicopter deck and a hangar.

The Anawrahta class corvette is a class of corvettes operated by the Myanmar Navy. The UMS Anawrahta (771) was commissioned in 2001. The ship was built locally with Chinese assistance. The Anawrahta class corvette is equipped with various electronic suites and weaponry systems from China, Israel and Russia. [5] [6] The lead ship of the class is named after King Anawrahta, the founder of the Pagan Empire of Myanmar (Burma). [2]

Contents

The second ship, 772, named after King Bayinnaung, was commissioned in 2003. [5] The Myanmar Navy launched another stealth corvette UMS Tabinshwehti (773) in November 2014. [7] [note 1]

UBS <i>Mayu</i>

UBS Mayu was the first flagship of the Burmese Navy. She was commissioned on 25 May 1947 and saw 32 years of active service during which she participated in many counter-insurgency campaigns, safeguarding Myanmar's territorial waters, and also served as a training ship for the officers and ratings of Myanmar (Burma) Navy. The ship had been built as River-class frigate HMS Fal for the Royal Navy during World War II and was transferred to the Burmese government in 1947 on loan, and permanently in 1948. She was decommissioned in 1979 and was converted to a museum ship.

The Myanmar Navy is the naval warfare branch of the armed forces of Myanmar. With 16,000 personnel on duty, the navy operates more than 227 vessels. Prior to 1988, the navy was small, and its role in counter-insurgency operations was smaller than those of the army and the air force. The navy has since been expanded to take on a more active role in defense of Myanmar's territorial waters.

The Kamorta-class corvettes or Project 28 are a class of anti-submarine warfare corvettes currently in service with the Indian Navy. Built at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, they are the first anti-submarine warfare stealth corvettes to be built in India. Project 28 was approved in 2003, with construction of the lead ship, INS Kamorta commencing on 12 August 2005. All of the four corvettes, INS Kamorta, INS Kadmatt, INS Kiltan and INS Kavaratti were commissioned in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2020 respectively.

The Nampo-class corvettes are a class of warships built in North Korea. They were seen from satellite-photos in 2013 and are believed to be a replacement for the older Soho-class frigate. The class has some similarities to Myanmar Navy UMS Tabinshweht, an Anawrahta-class frigate.

INS <i>Kavaratti</i> (P31) Indian Navy anti-submarine warfare corvette

INS Kavaratti (P31) is an anti-submarine warfare corvette of the Indian Navy built under Project 28. It is the last of four Kamorta-class corvettes. The ship was built by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, Kolkata, and launched on 19 May 2015. Kavaratti represents a leap forward in the Navy's attempts at indigenisation with as much as 90% of its content drawn from India itself. It was commissioned into the Navy on 22 October 2020 in Visakhapatnam.

The Inlay-class offshore patrol vessel is a class of offshore patrol vessel (OPV) operated by the Myanmar Navy. The lead ship of the class is UMS Inlay. UMS Inlay was built at Thanlyin Naval Dockyard near Yangon with the help of technical assistance and equipment provided by Singapore-based companies. Launched in late November 2015, Inlay was commissioned in December 2017. Subsequently, Inma was commissioned in December 2021.

UMS <i>Moattama</i> UMS Moattama Myanmar Navy

UMS Moattama (1501) also UMS Mottama is the first landing platform dock (LPD) and current flagship of the Myanmar Navy. Like other LPDs, Moattama is designed for amphibious operations, transportation of personnel as well as disaster relief and humanitarian assistance. It has a well deck and two helicopter landing spots and hangar. Moattama was based on the Makassar class design used by Dae Sun for the LPDs ordered by Indonesia and Peru. It is 125 metres long and a beam of 22 metres. It is also expected to be able to accommodate at least two Mi-17 medium helicopters in its flight deck.

The 5-Series class is a class of fast attack craft built by the Myanmar Navy between 1996 and 2012. There are twenty ships in this class and the designs and armaments of the ships are different based on their batches and ship types. Ships of the 5-series class are divided into FAC (Missile)s and FAC (Gun)s.
