Ancon Ltd is a company that designs and manufactures stainless steel products for the construction industry founded and still based in Sheffield, United Kingdom. The main products being "Wall Tie", and brickwork support systems. Ancon is part of the CRH Group. The total workforce is around 600 employees.

Brief history

Ancon is the result of mergers between several companies including George Clark, Ancon Stainless Steel Fixings in 1993 and CCL Systems acquired in 1998. George Clark of Sheffield was founded in 1882 and Ancon Stainless Steel Fixings was founded in 1971. The firm also acquired Harris and Edgar based in Epsom Surrey.

Following these merges the Ancon Head Office was relocated to a purpose-built premises located at President Way in Sheffield. Ancon went on to be sold to Tyco [ citation needed ] and was acquired by CRH plc in 2008. [6]

Ancon-branded products are supplied worldwide through offices in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates and via a large network of distributors. [7]

Quarterdeck Office Systems, later Quarterdeck Corporation, was an American computer software company. It was founded by Therese Myers and Gary Pope in 1981 and incorporated in 1982. Their offices were initially located at 150 Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica, California and later at 13160 Mindanao Way in Marina del Rey, California, as well as a sales and technical support unit located in Clearwater, Florida. In the 1990s, they had a European office in Dublin, Ireland. Sigg Switzerland AG is a Swiss manufacturing company with its headquarters in Frauenfeld. Panteg Steel Works

The Panteg Steel Works was situated in the village of Panteg, adjacent to Sebastopol, and Griffithstown, in the district of Torfaen, South Wales. The steel works was founded in 1873, and operated for over 130 years until its closure in 2004. A number of 'firsts' occurred at Panteg Steel Works during its long life, including the first full production of stainless steel in the UK outside Sheffield in 1944, the installation of the first production vertical caster in the UK in 1960 and the commissioning of British Steel's first Argon Oxygen Decarburizer in 1972. Planning permission was given to turn the works into residential housing in 2010, when the site became the Parc Panteg housing estate.
