Club career

Early Career / Watford

Born in Chelsea, Janjeva began his career at the age of 5 at Eagles United , a club established by the Albanian community in London, [1] before later joining the Watford Academy in 2010. He was a consistent figure who remained for 12 years until 2022. A captain throughout the age groups all the way until Under-23, staff and directors viewed him as a player with amazing potential to break through into the Watford First Team. He was an example and leading figure for his teammates.

On 23 January 2020, at the age of 17, he was on the bench for Watford for the first time in a 2019–20 FA Cup Third Round match against Tranmere Rovers. [2]

In March 2023, Janjeva joined National League South side Dover Athletic. [3] On 25 March 2023, his debut with the club came against St Albans City.

Partizani Tirana

In July 2023, Janjeva joined Kategoria Superiore U-21 side Partizani Tirana U-21. His debut with Partizani Tirana U-21 came on 25 October against Tirana U-21 after being named in the starting line-up. [4]

On 1 November 2023, Janjeva was named as a Partizani Tirana's first team substitute for the first time in a Kategoria Superiore match against Laçi. [5] His debut with Partizani Tirana's first team came on 27 November against Dinamo City after being named in the starting line-up. [6]

On 20 December 2023, Janjeva won his first trophy as a professional - the Albanian Super Cup, contested between Partizani Tirana and Egnatia. He came on in the second half as his team led 1-0 and played a crucial part in defending their lead, dismissing any chance of a comeback from the opposition team. [7]

International career

On 19 November 2017, Janjeva was named as part of the Kosovo U16 squad for 2017 Aegean Mercedes Cup. [8] His debut with Kosovo U16 came a day later against the host Turkey U16 after being named in the starting line-up. [9]

On 1 August 2019, as a 16 year old, Janjeva received a call-up from Kosovo U19 for a three-day training camp in Prishtina that was being held as part of preparations for the UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifiers. [10]

On 15 March 2022, at age 19, Janjeva received a call-up from Kosovo U21 for the UEFA Euro 2023 Qualifier matches against Slovenia U21. [11]

On 13 May 2022, Janjeva was again called up from Kosovo U21 for the UEFA Euro 2023 Qualifier matches against England U21 and Andorra U21.

Janjeva, through his roots, is eligible to play for the Kosovo, Albania or England national team.

Playing style

A modern day technically gifted defender, he has always been very comfortable on the ball alongside great passing range with both feet, very strong in aerial and ground duels and blessed with great recovery pace. His excellent ball-playing ability combined with his agility and dynamism is a factor in him being able to play at right-back alongside center-back. He possesses all the attributes required as a defender in the modern game.

Personal life

Janjeva was born in London, England and brought up in Chelsea to Kosovo Albanian parents from Prishtina. [1]
