Ando Island is an island in Borongan City, Eastern Samar, Philippines. It has a number of resorts.
Ando Island has a number of tourist resorts. It has a boat ride from Sabang South, to Ando Island.
The first hanging hammock adventure is at the Island, consisting of a Hammock, hanging 35 meters above the ground, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. [1]
On November 12, 2013, Typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippines; in Ando Island a ship resting in the island fell, killing 2 people and made 5 missing. [2]
On September 5, 2023, the city government of Borongan announced a national kayaking event, being hosted by Borongan, Ando Island was one of the starting places for the kayaking event. [3]
Eastern Samar, officially the Province of Eastern Samar, is a province in the Philippines located in the Eastern Visayas region. Its capital is the city of Borongan. Eastern Samar occupies the eastern portion of the island of Samar. Bordering the province to the north is the province of Northern Samar and to the west is Samar province. To the east lies the Philippine Sea, part of the vast Pacific Ocean, while to the south lies Leyte Gulf.

MV Doña Paz was a Japanese-built and Philippine-registered passenger ferry that sank after it collided with the oil tanker Vector on December 20, 1987. Built by Onomichi Zosen of Hiroshima, Japan, the ship was launched on April 25, 1963 as the Himeyuri Maru with a passenger capacity of 608. In October 1975, the Himeyuri Maru was bought by Sulpicio Lines and renamed the Don Sulpicio. After a fire on board in June 1979, the ship was refurbished and renamed Doña Paz.

Eastern Samar National Comprehensive High School (ESNCHS) is located in Borongan, Eastern Samar, Philippines. Formerly named Borongan National High School, Eastern Samar National Comprehensive High School was shortly established after the issuance of Republic Act 4221, "Providing for the Division of Samar Island into Three Provinces: Samar, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar." ESNCHS is the largest high school in the Province of Eastern Samar in both population and school area size. It is also considered the flagship high school of Eastern Samar.
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Palo is a large administrative diocese of the Catholic Church in the town of Palo in Leyte province, Philippines. It was formed as a diocese on the 28th of November, 1937, and became an archdiocese in 1982, with Calbayog, Borongan, Catarman and Naval Diocese serving as suffragan to it. The archdiocese encompasses 4,620 km2 (1,780 sq mi) and an overwhelmingly Catholic population of 1,165,565. The archdiocese has two districts, Eastern and Western, which are divided among the languages Waray and Cebuano. The Eastern District has seven vicariates of 34 parishes. 13 parishes are in the Western District, with one chaplaincy. The archdiocese contains two seminaries. The elder of these is the Sacred Heart Seminary, which was founded in 1944. Founded in 1988, the St. John Evangelist School of Theology serves additional dioceses. Jose S. Palma, a priest from the Archdiocese of Jaro and Bishop of the Diocese of Calbayog, Samar was the Archbishop of Palo until he was appointed as Archbishop of Cebu following the retirement of the late Archbishop Cardinal Ricardo Vidal.

Don Eugenio Daza y Salazar is a Filipino principale (nobleman) recognized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) as the first maestro (teacher) in the Samar province. He was both an infantry major and procurement officer in the Philippine Republican Army during the Philippine-American War. He was area commander of General Lukbán's forces for Southeastern Samar and overall commander and tactician of the Battle of Balangiga.
Maria Fe Romerica Abunda is a Filipino politician. She is currently a member of the Philippine House of Representatives representing the Eastern Samar's Lone District since 2019. She served as the mayor of Borongan from 2013 to 2019. She became the first woman to be elected as Eastern Samar representative. She is the sister of television host Boy Abunda.
