Andrea White is an American novelist and civic leader. She is married to the former Houston mayor Bill White.
Andrea Ferguson was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Arthur John Ferguson (1917–2008), and Patsi (née Wells) Ferguson. The family moved in the 1950s from Louisiana to Houston, where she attended Memorial High School. She earned her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas and became a partner in the law firm Locke Liddell [1] where she remained until the birth of her second child, after which she was able to turn her writing hobby into a profession. [2]
White's first book, Surviving Antarctica , a novel for teenage readers, was published in 2005. It was listed on the reading lists of several states, including the Texas Bluebonnet Award list. [3] In 2006, she won the Golden Spur Children's Literature award given by the Texas State Reading Association. Her next book, Window Boy , was about a boy in a wheelchair who is a "basketball genius".
White and her husband have three children: Will, Elena, and Stephen.
In addition to writing, White serves as an active community volunteer. In partnership with the Houston Independent School District Board, White, and her husband started Expectation Graduation, a door-to-door initiative to reach out to Houston area youth who had not returned to school. [4] She has also visited many schools such as St. Helen Catholic School in Pearland, Texas to answer questions about her books.

Klein Cain High School is a senior high school in unincorporated Harris County, Texas. A part of the Klein Independent School District, it opened in August 2017. Nicole Patin is the principal of the school. The sports team is the Hurricanes. Klein Cain opened in 2017 with 9th and 10th grade students, then added 11th graders in 2018 and 12th graders in 2019. The school is named after Jim Cain, who worked in Klein ISD for 35 years and in public education for 47 years.

Nancy Moffette Lea (1780–1864) was the mother of Margaret Lea Houston and mother-in-law of Sam Houston. She was an integral member of the Houston family, running the household when Margaret was ill or pregnant. She is believed to have helped her son-in-law convert and be baptized in 1854. In appreciation, she donated a bell to the Independence Baptist Church in honor of him. The wife of Temple Lea, she inherited an estate from her family that she managed. She purchased a cotton plantation which was operated by 50 enslaved people.
