Andrei Popescu (born 1948) is a Romanian lawyer and a judge at the General Court of the European Union. [1]

He graduated in law from the University of Bucharest in 1971 and obtained his doctorate (Doctor in Laws) in 1980. From 1971 to 1973, he was trainee assistant lecturer; from 1974 to 1985, he was a tenured assistant lecturer; and from 1985 to 1990 he was a lecturer in labour law at the University of Bucharest. From 1991 to 1991, he was a principal researcher at the National Research Institute for Labour and Social Protection. In 1991 he became Deputy Director at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and was Director from 1992 to 1996. From 1997 he was a senior lecturer at the National School of Political Science and Public Administration in Bucharest, becoming a professor in 2000. From 2001 to 2005, he was State Secretary at the Ministry for European Integration (2001–05). From 1996 to 2001 and from 2005 to 2009, he was also Head of Department at the Legislative Council of Romania. [1]

He was founding editor of the Romanian Review of European Law, and President of the Romanian Society for European Law from 2009 to 2010. [1]

From 2009 to 201,0 he was agent of the Romanian Government before the Courts of the European Union, and since 26 November 2010, he has been a judge at the General Court of the European Union. [1]

Iulia Antoanella Motoc is a Romanian judge and international law expert, currently a Judge at the European Court of Human Rights and a professor at the University of Bucharest. Before beginning her service at the Court, she served as a Judge at the Constitutional Court of Romania. Motoc was UN Special Rapporteur for the Democratic Republic of the Congo and she chaired a number of international experts bodies and was Vice-President of the UN Human Rights Committee. On 1 October 2013, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe elected Motoc a Judge of the European Court of Human Rights with respect to Romania. She received an absolute majority of votes cast by parliamentarians. Her nine-year term of office began on 18 December 2013. In August 2021, she was elected as a member of the Institut de Droit International. On 28 March 2023, following a selection process, she was chosen by the Romanian Government to be Romania's candidate for the post of Judge at the International Criminal Court.

Angelika Helene Anna Nußberger is a German professor of law and scholar of Slavic studies, and was the judge in respect of Germany at the European Court of Human Rights from 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2019; from 2017 to 2019 she was the Court’s Vice-President. She had previously been Vice-Rector of the University of Cologne. Currently she is Director of the Institute of Eastern European Law and Comparative Law of the University of Cologne.
