Andrejs Klementjevs (born 7 September 1973, in Riga) [1] is a Latvian politician of Russian origin. He is a member of Harmony and a deputy of the 11th Saeima.

Māris Gailis is a Latvian businessman and former politician. He is the former Prime Minister of Latvia, an office he held from September 1994 to December 1995. In the government of the Prime Minister Valdis Birkavs, Gailis became a Minister of State Reform; in the government of the Prime Minister Andris Šķēle, he was the Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development. As a member of the right-wing liberal political party Latvian Way, he was elected in the 5th Saeima and 6th Saeima. He led a round-the-globe expedition on the yacht Milda from 2001 to 2003.
Latvia does not recognize same-sex marriage but same-sex couples are able to register their partnerships with the courts. On 12 November 2020, the Constitutional Court of Latvia ruled that the Latvian Constitution entitles same-sex couples to receive the benefits and protections afforded by Latvian law to married opposite-sex couples, and gave the Saeima until 1 June 2022 to enact a law protecting same-sex couples. In December 2021, the Supreme Court ruled that should the Saeima fail to pass civil union legislation before the 1 June deadline, same-sex couples may apply with a court to have their relationship recognized and enjoy similar rights and benefits to married couples. The Saeima failed to approve such legislation by the deadline, and the first same-sex union was recognized by the Administrative District Court on 30 May.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people in Latvia face legal and social challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents. Both male and female same-sex sexual activity are legal in Latvia, but households headed by same-sex couples are ineligible for the same legal protections available to opposite-sex couples. Since May 2022, same-sex couples may have their relationship recognized by the Administrative District Court, which gives them some of the legal protections available to married (opposite-sex) couples. Nevertheless, same-sex couples are unable to marry or jointly adopt.

Articles 4 and 114 of the Constitution of Latvia form the foundation for language policy in Latvia, declaring Latvian to be the official state language and affirming the rights of ethnic minorities to preserve and develop their languages. Livonian language is recognized as "the language of the indigenous (autochthon) population" in the Official Language Law, but Latgalian written language is protected as "a historic variant of Latvian." All other languages are considered foreign by the Law on State Language. Latvia provides national minority education programmes in Russian, Polish, Hebrew, Ukrainian, Estonian, Lithuanian, and Belarusian.

Inese Lībiņa-Egnere is a Latvian politician representing the Unity party. She was a member and Deputy Speaker of the 11th Saeima. She was the Deputy Speaker and the Chairperson of the National Security Committee of the 12th Saeima. In 2022, Lībiņa-Egnere was elected in the 14th Saeima. Currently she is the Latvian Minister of Justice.
Lolita Čigāne is currently an international consultant with a unique experience in politics, elections, election campaign financing, law-making, electoral campaigns, anti-corruption, civil society participation and EU law and integration. She was previously a member of parliament, civil society activist, journalist and the chairperson of the Board of Transparency International Latvia. Čigāne was first elected to the 10th Saeima (parliament) in 2010. She served a full term as a Member of Parliament in the 11th Saeima (2011–2014), was the parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Finance in 2013-2014 and a member of 12th Saeima, serving also as the chair of the European Affairs Committee until November 2018. Currently she works as an international consultant in the issues of political finance, elections, election corruption, good governance and parliament affairs with organizations such as OSCE, European Commission, NDI and others, as well as visiting lecturer at Riga Graduate School of Law where she teaches EU law and integration and Stockholm School of Economics in Riga teaching political economy courses. In 2020 - 2022 she has worked with OSCE in the leadership of election missions in Croatia, Mongolia, Germany, France and Italy.

Dace Melbārde is a Latvian politician. She is a member of New Unity, having defected from the National Alliance in 2022 and was the Latvian minister of culture from 2013 to 2019. In May 2019, representing the political party National Alliance, she was elected as a Member of the European Parliament, where she joined the European Conservatives and Reformists group.

He is former the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economics (2010–2013), a member of the Council of LMT (2009–2012), a member of the Board of the Riga Graduate School of Law (2006–2010), as well as a member of the Riga City Council (2017–2018).
