Andrew Heo (born March 7, 2001) is an American short track speed skater. He represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Career

Heo won a bronze medal at the 2020 Four Continents Short Track Speed Skating Championships in the 5000 metre relay. [1]

Heo represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics in the men's 1000 metres. [2] [3]

Heo won a silver medal at the 2023 Four Continents Short Track Speed Skating Championships in the 500 metres. [4]

Personal life

Heo's older brother, Aaron, is a short track speed skater and represented the United States at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics. [5] [6]

Short-track speed skating has been a contest at the Winter Olympics since the 1992 Winter Games in Albertville, France. Prior to that, it was a demonstration sport at the 1988 games. The results from the 1988 demonstration competition are not included in the official Olympic statistics. The sport has been dominated by teams from East Asia and North America, namely South Korea, China, Canada and the United States. Those four countries have won 147 of 195 medals awarded since 1992. She also qualified to compete in the 500 meters long track speed skating event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Natalia Maliszewska is a Polish short track speed skater. She won silver medal at the 2018 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships and gold medal at the 2019 European Short Track Speed Skating Championships.

Suzanne Schulting is a Dutch short track speed skater who is also active as a long track speed skater. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, she won the Netherlands' first-ever gold medal in short track speed skating and became one of the youngest-ever Dutch Winter Olympic champions. She is also a two-time overall World Champion and three-time overall European Champion, and the current world record holder for 1000m.

Short track speed skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics are scheduled to be held at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing, China. The events are scheduled to take place between 5 and 16 February 2022. A total of nine short track speed skating events will be held.

The men's 1000 metres competition in short track speed skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 5 February (heats) and 7 February (finals), at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing. Ren Ziwei of China won the event, achieving his first individual Olympic gold medal. His teammate, Li Wenlong took the silver – his first Olympic medal, and Shaoang Liu of Hungary won the bronze.
