Andrew James Morley (born 10 November 1989) is an Australian actor, known for his roles as Brandon Benedict in Lightning Point and Spencer Harrington in Home and Away . Following his departure from Home and Away in 2015, Morley worked as a presenter on Melbourne Weekender and joined the cast of Neighbours as Jack Callahan.

Early and personal life

Morley was raised on a farm in Clarkefield, Victoria. He has an elder brother, Thomas and an elder sister, Alison. [1] After graduating from high school, Morley studied civil engineering at RMIT University. Two years later, at the age of 20, he began acting and appeared in various short films. [1]

Morley has been a volunteer firefighter since the early 2000s. [2] Morley became engaged to his partner Jay Haggar in August 2017. [3] Haggar gave birth to their first child, a daughter, on 14 December 2017. [4] [5] Morley is also a step-father to Haggar's two children from a previous relationship. [6] Morley and Hagger married in December 2018. [7]

Career

In late 2010, Morley was cast as the lead role of Brandon Benedict in the Jonathan M. Shiff produced television series Lightning Point , which began airing from 2012. [8] He had to relocate to the Gold Coast for the seven month shoot. [1] In January 2013, Morley began appearing in Home and Away as Spencer Harrington. [9] Morley left Home and Away in April 2015 after two years. [10] A few months later, he joined the presenting team of travel and lifestyle show Melbourne Weekender . [11]

In January 2016, it was announced that Morley had joined the regular cast of Neighbours as a character initially known as John Doe. He was billed as having no family ties and a "mysterious past". [12] He made his first screen appearance on 4 April 2016. [13] Morley's character was later revealed to be a Catholic priest called Jack Callahan. [14] Morely left the show in 2018. [15] He reprised the role for the show's 35th anniversary in March 2020. [16]

After leaving Neighbours, Morley became a full-time firefighter. He also owns and co-runs the Store My Van caravan storage business with his mother. [17]

Ramsay Street is the fictional cul-de-sac in which the characters of the Australian soap opera Neighbours live. The street is set in the equally fictional Melbourne suburb of Erinsborough. Neighbours storylines primarily centre on the residents of the street, which was named after Jack Ramsay, the grandfather of original character Max Ramsay. A blackjack game between Jack and Sam Robinson determined whose name the street would be named after. Only six houses on the street are featured on a regular basis; numbers 22 to 32. Number 34 was featured for the only time in 2018. The cul-de-sac is at the end of a long street and the rest of the houses are on the other side of the main road which bisects it. The street behind Ramsay Street is named Mirrabooka Drive. A storyline within the show saw the name of the street nearly changed to Ramsbottom Street. Harold Bishop led a protest against it and won.

Neighbours is an Australian television soap opera, which has aired since 18 March 1985. It was created by television executive Reg Watson. The Seven Network commissioned the show following the success of Watson's earlier soap Sons and Daughters. Although successful in Melbourne, Neighbours underperformed in the Sydney market and was cancelled by Seven four months after it began airing. It was immediately commissioned by rival Network Ten for a second production season, which began screening on 20 January 1986. Neighbours became the longest-running drama series in Australian television history. In 2005, it was inducted into the Logie Hall of Fame.

Lyn Scully is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Janet Andrewartha. The character made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 20 October 1999, along with her family and remained a prominent feature within the show until late 2006. Andrewartha reprised her role for a brief return in 2008 and then returned permanently in August 2009. Lyn departed again on 26 May 2011, so Andrewartha could pursue new acting opportunities. Ashleigh May Brewer (born 9 December 1990) is an Australian actress. She had a recurring role in The Sleepover Club, before she joined the cast of H2O: Just Add Water. She portrayed Ivy Forrester on the CBS Daytime soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful from 2014 to 2018. Later that same year, she joined the cast of Home and Away as Chelsea Campbell.

Ahead of her first episode, Piper was introduced to viewers in a four-part webisode series called Hey Piper. She made her first appearance in the main show during the episode broadcast on 16 September 2015. The show's producer had planned their stories out six months in advance and was excited about the prospect of them joining the series. Both Honda and Kano auditioned for both roles and were later awarded their respective parts. David is characterised as the more self-conscious and socially awkward of the Tanaka twins, but he is career minded and confident in his role as a doctor.

Xanthe Canning is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Lilly Van der Meer. The character's introduction was teased by actress Colette Mann, who plays Sheila Canning, during an interview in October 2015. Van der Meer's casting was announced the following month. She taped her first audition for the part at her home. Van der Meer learned she had won the role during her school lunch break, and she relocated from Queensland to Melbourne for filming. Xanthe is the granddaughter of Sheila Canning and the half-sister of Kyle Canning. She made her first appearance during the episode broadcast on 22 January 2016. In December 2018, it was confirmed that Van der Meer had relocated to Los Angeles, leading to her exit from the show. Xanthe made her final appearance on 8 January 2019.

Jack Callahan is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Andrew Morley. The actor was cast in late 2015 and landed the regular role of Jack. Morley had previously played Spencer Harrington in fellow soap opera Home and Away for two years. He made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 4 April 2016. The character departed on 30 March 2018, but Morley later reprised the role and returned on 26 February 2020, as part of the show's 35th anniversary celebrations.
