Andrew Simmons is a broadcast journalist, currently working with Al Jazeera English. In recent years, he has specialised in covering the conflicts of the Arab Spring.
Simmons joined Al Jazeera English in 2005, in the run-up to its launch. His original brief was to help set up the East Africa bureau and, immediately following the launch in 2006, he remained at the Nairobi bureau as Bureau Chief and senior correspondent.
Following his next appointment, as a senior correspondent based in the London broadcast-centre, in 2011 he covered the downfalls of Gaddafi in Libya and Mubarak in Egypt.
In 2013, he moved to the main broadcast-centre, in Doha in Qatar, still as a roving correspondent and presenter. The main purpose of this move was to cover the war in Syria from inside the country, reporting on the conflict first-hand. However, when the Westgate mall attack took place in Kenya, he returned briefly to Nairobi, to cover events in the city which had once been his home and for which he had a particular expertise in the local places, politics and peoples. Later, he returned to the Near East, to cover the strain on Lebanon's small population and economy, of hosting the huge new wave of refugees from Syria, in addition to the older wave from Palestine.
Before joining Al Jazeera English, Simmons was West Africa Correspondent for BBC TV News. He had previously been a presenter in the United Kingdom, for the BBC News channel. [1]
When Simmons was with Sky News, he worked as a correspondent in an investigative unit. [1]
For more than 15 years, Simmons served as a correspondent with ITN, the much-respected UK news channel. His experience in covering conflict included Northern Ireland, where he spent four years based in Belfast, plus extensive assignments in: Chechnya, Bosnia, Iraq, Iran and Sri Lanka. At the end of the first Gulf War, he covered the 1991 uprising in Iraq by the Shia population of Basra and was captured by the Iraqi Republican Guard. He was released ten days later, in Baghdad. In 1991, Simmons received a UK Royal Television Society award for his coverage of the exodus of the Kurdish people during the conflict in Iraq. [1]
Al Arabiya is an international Arabic television news channel, currently based in Dubai, that is operated by the media conglomerate MBC. The channel is a flagship of the media conglomerate and hence, is the only single offering to carry the name as simply "Al Arabiya" in its branding.
Alhurra is a United States-based public Arabic-language satellite TV channel that broadcasts news and current affairs programming to audiences in the Middle East and North Africa. Alhurra is funded by the U.S government and is barred from broadcasting within the United States itself under the 1948 Smith-Mundt Act.
Rageh Omaar is a Somali-born British journalist and writer. He was a BBC world affairs correspondent, where he made his name reporting from Iraq. In September 2006, he moved to a new post at Al Jazeera English, where he presented the nightly weekday documentary series Witness until January 2010. The Rageh Omaar Report, first aired February 2010, is a one-hour, monthly investigative documentary in which he reports on international current affairs stories. From January 2013, he became a special correspondent and presenter for ITV News, reporting on a broad range of news stories, as well as producing special in-depth reports from all around the UK and further afield. A year after his appointment, Omaar was promoted to International Affairs Editor for ITV News. Since October 2015, alongside his duties as International Affairs Editor, he has been a Deputy Newscaster of ITV News at Ten. Since September 2017 Omaar has occasionally presented the ITV Lunchtime News including the ITV News London Lunchtime Bulletin and the ITV Evening News.
Al Jazeera English (AJE) is a television news channel broadcast to the world by the Al Jazeera Media Network. It is the first English-language news channel to be headquartered in the Middle East. Instead of being run centrally, news management rotates between broadcasting centres in Doha and London.

Rusiya Al-Yaum started broadcasting on 4 May 2007. The parent company of RT Arabic is TV-Novosti, which is an Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization owned by the Russian Federation.
Bill Neely is a Northern Irish journalist. He was the Chief Global Correspondent for NBC News, from 2014-2021 [2]. He has been a broadcaster since 1981. Neely spent 25 years at ITN's ITV News before retiring from NBC in April 2021.

Ali Hashem is a columnist for Al-Monitor a reporter who covers the Middle East in general with special emphasis on Iranian affairs. He currently serves as a senior journalist at Al Jazeera English and prior to that he was BBC’s Iran affairs correspondent. With BBC he was the first journalist to tweet about the assassination of Qassem Soleimani on January, 3rd 2020. Ali is among the first staff that launched Al Mayadeen news channel in 2012 and BBC’s Arabic Television in 2008. With Al Mayadeen, he served as the channel’s Iran bureau chief, covering the nuclear talks during the presidency of Hasan Rouhani, the nuclear deal in Vienna where he was the only Arab journalist to interview Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during the talks and after the announcement on July 14, 2015. During the second decade of the 21st century, he covered the fall of Mosul and the emergence of ISIS in Iraq and produced an hour-long documentary on the group’s leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi. He wrote a detailed biography of Al-Baghdadi for Al-Monitor and the Sunday Times that were referenced in several books on the subject. Until March 2012, he was Al Jazeera's war correspondent, covering the revolution in Libya and Syria, draught and famine in Somalia, and Iran’s general election. He was the first journalist to interview Libyan general Khalifa Haftar on the outset of the events in Libya. Ali has written for several international Institutes and media outlets, such as Foreign Policy, The Guardian, the Sunday Times, the Middle East Institute, the Century Foundation, Carnegie Foundation, among others. Al Mayadeen is a pan-Arabist satellite television channel launched on 11 June 2012 in Beirut, Lebanon. Its programming is predominantly news. It has news reporters in most Arab countries. In the pan-Arab TV news market it competes against Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya, and also against Sky News Arabia and BBC Arabic Television. At its founding in 2012 many of Al Mayadeen's senior staff were former correspondents and editors of Al Jazeera. Al Mayadeen is viewed as pro-Hezbollah and pro-Syrian government.
David Chater is a British broadcast journalist. Chater has more than 35 years' experience in international television news, having worked for Independent Television News, Sky News and Al Jazeera English. He joined ITN in 1976, Sky News in 1993 and Al Jazeera English in 2006. In 2008 he also took time out to serve as Head of News at Georgian television channel Kanal Pik, run under licence by K1.
Rawya Rageh is an Egyptian journalist and Senior Crisis Adviser for Amnesty International based in New York City. She was previously a broadcast journalist known for her in-depth coverage of notable stories across the Middle East and Africa, including the Iraq War, the Darfur crisis in Sudan, the Saddam Hussein trial, the Arab Spring, and the Boko Haram conflict in Northern Nigeria. Working as a correspondent for the Al Jazeera English network her contribution to the Peabody Award-winning coverage the network provided of the Egyptian Revolution of 2011 and the Arab Spring was documented in the books 18 Days: Al Jazeera English and the Egyptian Revolution and Liberation Square: Inside the Egyptian Revolution and the Rebirth of a Nation. The news story she broadcast on 25 January, the first day of the Egyptian Revolution of 2011, was selected by Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism as one of the "50 Great Stories" produced by its alumni in the past 100 years. In addition to her broadcast reporting, Rageh is an active social media journalist, recognized by the Washington Post as one of "The 23 Accounts You Must Follow to Understand Egypt" and by Forbes Middle East Magazine as one of the "100 Arab personalities with the most presence on Twitter."

The channel is a flagship of the media conglomerate and hence, is the only single offering to carry the name as simply "Al Jazeera" in its branding. The channel's willingness to broadcast no holds barred views, for example on call-in shows, created controversies in the Arab States of the Persian Gulf. One of the station's offices was the only channel to cover the War in Afghanistan live.
