AniManGaki (AMG) is an annual ACG event in Malaysia.

Name

AniManGaki is a portmanteau of the words Anime, Manga, Games, and Gaki. 'Gaki' in Japanese slang means 'brat'. [1]

History

AniManGaki originally started in 2009 and was founded by Yvonne Sing. It was initially organized by the Anime Club of Sunway University College. In 2011, Sunway University College had a name change to Sunway University and a year later in 2012, AniManGaki separated from the university. Today, it is an event organized by the AniManGaki Organizing Committee under Rakugaki Events PLT. [1]

Projects

AniManGaki consists of several parallel smaller-scale projects, such as AMG-Chan (since 2017), ACE (since 2019) and Jom Cosplay! (since 2022). [1] [7]

Yuricon was an anime convention geared toward fans of yuri anime and manga. The first Yuricon event was held in 2003 in Newark, New Jersey with about 200 attending, although Yuricon has existed as an online entity since 2000. The event was organized by Yuricon, LLC., which continues to run Yuri-focused events of its own, collaborates with other organizations to hold unique events, and hosts contests.

The World Cosplay Summit is an annual international cosplay event, which promotes global interaction through Japanese pop culture. It developed from a cosplay exhibition held at the Aichi Expo in 2005.

C3AFA, also known as Anime Festival Asia (AFA), is a series of anime conventions held in the Southeast Asian region, with a core annual convention held in Singapore. The main convention is traditionally held over a weekend in late November to early December. It was held at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 2008 to 2011, but was moved to the Singapore Expo MAX Pavilion in 2012 due to renovation works at Suntec Convention Centre that year. The convention returned to Suntec Convention Centre in 2013 and is being held there till now.

Comic Fiesta, abbreviated as CF, is Malaysia's longest-running convention that focuses on animation, comics and games (ACG). Its focus is to celebrate all aspects of art and creativity. Comic Fiesta is usually held in December at various locations, including Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre at KLCC. It is an event held with the motto of "event by fans for fans", and is also currently the first and the biggest non-profit ACG convention in Malaysia, organised by a group of volunteers to bring the comic convention experience to the Malaysian audience.

Miss Grand Malaysia is an annual female beauty pageant in Malaysia, founded by a Penang-based businessperson Anson Chong in 2013, aiming to select the country representative for Miss Grand International, which is an annual international beauty pageant promoting World Peace and against all kinds of conflicts. During 2015 to 2021, the contest was run by Introducing Talent Sdn Bhd, under the leadership of Jude Benjamin Lisa. Since 2022, the franchise has belonged to the Singapore-based start-up HyperLive Entertainment.
