The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is the administrative arm of the All India Services of Government of India. The IAS is one of the three All India Services along with the Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service. Members of these three services serve the Government of India as well as the individual states. IAS officers are also deployed to various government establishments such as constitutional bodies, staff and line agencies, auxiliary bodies, public sector undertakings, regulatory bodies, statutory bodies and autonomous bodies.
The Liberhan Commission was a long-running inquiry commissioned by the Government of India to investigate the destruction of the disputed structure Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in 1992. Led by retired High Court Judge M. S. Liberhan, it was formed on 16 December 1992 by an order of the Indian Home Union Ministry after the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on 6 December and the subsequent riots there. The commission was originally mandated to submit its report within three months. Extensions were given 48 times, and after a delay of 17 years, the one-man commission submitted the report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 30 June 2009. In November 2009, a day after a newspaper published the allegedly leaked contents of the report, the report was tabled in Parliament by the Home Minister P. Chidambaram.
Kalyan Singh was an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served twice as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and as a Member of Parliament. He was the Chief minister of Uttar Pradesh during the demolition of the Babri Masjid in December 1992. He is considered an icon of Hindu nationalism, and of the agitation to build a Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Jagdambika Pal is an Indian politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for 1 day in 1998. He is also currently a member of the Lok Sabha since 2009. In the 15th Lok Sabha he represented the Indian National Congress, until he resigned on 7 March 2014. He joined the BJP in 2014 and re-entered the Lok Sabha.
The Government of Uttar Pradesh is the subnational government of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh with the governor as its appointed constitutional head of the state by the President of India. The Governor of Uttar Pradesh is appointed for a period of five years and appoints the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and their council of ministers, who are vested with the executive powers of the state. The governor remains a ceremonial head of the state, while the chief minister and their council are responsible for day-to-day government functions.
B. K. Chaturvedi is an Indian civil servant. He is former cabinet secretary, Government of India. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2010 for his contribution to the field of civil services. He belongs to 1966 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
The demolition of the Babri Masjid was carried out on 6 December 1992 by a large group of activists of the Vishva Hindu Parishad and allied organisations. The 16th-century Babri Masjid in the city of Ayodhya, in Uttar Pradesh, India, had been the subject of a lengthy socio-political dispute, and was targeted after a political rally organised by Hindu nationalist organisations turned violent.
Surendra Singh was Cabinet Secretary in the Indian government from August 1994 to July 1996, as well as Chairman of the Civil Services of India. Prior to that he was Secretary of the former Indian Ministry of Industry.
Mata Prasad is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer. He was one of the first people from the Scheduled Castes to become an IAS officer. Anil Baijal is a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and served as the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. He took over office on 31 December 2016 after the sudden resignation of Najeeb Jung. He resigned from the post of Lieutenant Governor and sent his resignation letter to President of India on 18 May 2022 as his term was over.
Rajive Kumar is a retired 1981 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer belonging to the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Kumar served as the chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority from 2018 to 2023 and previously served as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, in addition to serving as Shipping Secretary of India.

Provincial Civil Service / Provincial Civil Service , often abbreviated to as PCS, is the administrative civil service of the Government of Uttar Pradesh comprising Group A and Group B posts. It is also the feeder service for Indian Administrative Service in the state.
Anup Chandra Pandey is a retired 1984-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer belonging to the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He served as Election Commissioner of India. Pandey had also served as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, in addition to serving as the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, before retiring on 31 August 2019. He was Member, National Green Tribunal Oversight Committee, U.P before joining Election Commission.
Shyam Singh Yadav is an Indian politician and a Member of Parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. He is a member of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. He is the chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Papers laid on the Table since 2019. He is also the member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Coal and Steel; Parliamentary Joint Committee on Offices of Profit; member of Parliamentary General Purposes Committee ; and member of Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. He is also a former PCS officer.
Maharaj Krishen Kaw was an Indian bureaucrat and author who served as Secretary, Civil Aviation and Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development. An officer of the 1964 batch of the Indian Administrative Service, he served in numerous positions in the government of Himachal Pradesh and the Government of India.
William George Broome was a British-Indian civil servant and judge. He was an Indian Civil Service officer of the 1932 batch. He had the distinction of being the last British-born judge to serve in India.
Arvind Kumar Sharma is an Indian politician from Uttar Pradesh, former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and bureaucrat of 1988 batch. He is currently a Cabinet Minister in Uttar Pradesh. Before joining politics, Sharma was an IAS officer from Gujarat Cadre of the 1988 batch. Sharma was an aide of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, with whom he had worked for 20 years. He was also CEO, Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board and has also managed multiple Vibrant Gujarat summits. He joined the Prime Minister's Office as a Joint Secretary in 2014 and was elevated to the Additional Secretary rank in 2017. In 2019, he moved out of the PMO to become a secretary in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises but took voluntary retirement in January 2021.
Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, commonly known as R. K. Tiwari is a retired Indian civil servant and Indian Administrative Services officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre from the 1985 batch. He served as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Uttar Pradesh from 30 August 2019 to 30 December 2021, succeeding Anup Chandra Pandey.
